Job Description

Ko tātou tēnei - Hei hāpai ake i a koe | This is us. Where you matter.

Kiwibank is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to work in our Digital Workplace Security Services (DWSS) Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) team, within our Enterprise Technology Hub. Role is based in either central Auckland or Wellington.

Kō tātou tēnei. Hei kawe i ngā mahi kia tutuki | This is us. Where making an impact matters.

As a DWSS IGA Senior Engineer at Kiwibank, you’ll play an important role in building, running, and improving the identity governance capabilities that help ensure the right people have the right access at the right time.

You'll join a small engineering team responsible for Kiwibank's Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) platform.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on automation, integration, and identity security. We're looking for an engineer who enjoys connecting systems, solving technical problems, and building reliable automation that improves how access is managed across the bank.

You don't need to be a SailPoint expert. If you have experience integrating systems, working with APIs, databases, and automation tools, and you're interested in the identity and security space, we'd like to hear from you.

In this role you will:

  • Build and support integrations between SailPoint and internal or vendor systems.
  • Develop and enhance workflows that automate joiner, mover, and leaver processes.
  • Work with APIs, databases, directories, file-based integrations, messaging technologies, and other identity-related technologies.
  • Investigate how systems store, manage, and expose identity data, and design secure ways to integrate them with the IGA platform.
  • Troubleshoot provisioning, aggregation, and integration issues across a diverse technology landscape.
  • Collaborate with application owners, platform teams, and security teams to improve identity management outcomes.
  • Help design solutions that follow security best practice and the principle of least privilege.

Experience with SailPoint, identity governance platforms, or banking environments is highly desirable, but not essential.

What matters most is that you're a capable engineer who enjoys solving technical problems, integrating systems, automating processes, and building secure identity solutions. You don't need to be a SailPoint expert, but you should be someone who can quickly understand new technologies and confidently work through unfamiliar technical challenges.

And yes, it’s a hands-on role with an on-call component. Join us on this exciting journey!

Ko tātou tēnei. Kia hāpai i ō pūkenga |This is us. Where your expertise matters.

Ownership and attitude: You look for ways to move things forward, even when the path is not straightforward. You take ownership, stay pragmatic, and help the team work through challenges.

Technical depth: You understand the solutions you implement, can explain their design and trade-offs to others, and are comfortable being challenged on technical decisions.

People focus: You care about making access simple, secure, and timely for our people, while ensuring governance and control expectations are met.

Automation mindset: You look for opportunities to automate repeatable access processes, improve reliability, reduce manual effort, and make IGA services easier to support at scale.

Regulated environments: Experience in banking or another highly regulated environment would be valuable, especially where identity governance, access controls, auditability, risk, and compliance are part of day-to-day delivery.

Communication: You can explain complex technical topics clearly, adjust your message for different audiences, and keep people aligned.

Delivery: You have a track record of contributing to meaningful outcomes, from day-to-day improvements through to larger initiatives.

Required Experience

  • Integrating systems using APIs, databases, files, messaging technologies, or other connectivity methods.
  • Understanding of identity data sources and directories, including relational databases, LDAP, APIs, and structured file formats such as JSON, XML, and CSV.
  • Using automation to solve operational problems and eliminate manual processes.
  • Understanding of identity governance concepts such as joiner, mover, leaver processes, access lifecycle management, birthright access, and least-privilege access models.
  • Java, PowerShell, Python or similar scripting/programming languages.
  • Building and troubleshooting technical solutions rather than performing manual access administration.
