THE ROLE

The Software Operations team is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to help build and operate the platforms, tools, and automation that enable Toptracer’s global growth.

You will work across software development, infrastructure, and operations, driving technical decisions while remaining hands-on with coding, automation, and platform engineering. A key part of the role is designing and operating large-scale Kubernetes environments running primarily on on-premises infrastructure, with a focus on reliability, scalability, and efficiency.

Together with the team, you will develop the systems that remove operational bottlenecks, improve productivity, and enable Toptracer to scale worldwide. You will contribute to architecture, automation, deployment strategies, and engineering best practices while collaborating closely with both development and operations teams.

FREQUENT TECH STACK

• Large-scale Kubernetes platform running primarily on self-managed and on-prem infrastructure

• Linux-based development and production environments

• Python for backend services, automation, and operational tooling

• Docker and containerized platforms

• Bash and Python for scripting and automation

• Automated provisioning of physical and virtual infrastructure

• Netbooted servers, devices, and operational network environments

OCCASIONAL TECH STACK

• AWS and hybrid cloud infrastructure

• GitLab CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows

• Flask, FastAPI, and Django for API development

• PostgreSQL for database solutions

• Build tooling and automation that make a significant impact on the business

• Drive architectural, operational, and infrastructure decisions within the team

• Help shape deployment strategies and engineering best practices

WE BELIEVE YOU HAVE

Prioritized skills

• Strong experience developing, operating, and maintaining large-scale Kubernetes platforms in self-managed or on-prem infrastructure environments

• Several years of experience developing for Linux environments and working close to operational infrastructure

• Strong backend programming skills in Python, with experience building scalable automation, tooling, and APIs

• Experience with AWS and building CI/CD pipelines for Linux environments

• Strong understanding of infrastructure automation, containerized environments, and platform scalability across both development and operations

• Experience designing scalable operational tooling and automation workflows

• Ability to understand large distributed systems and how components integrate across infrastructure and software layers

• Strong communication and knowledge-sharing abilities, with experience mentoring and supporting team members

• Interest in software architecture while still enjoying hands-on coding

• Ability to contribute to architectural decisions, technical strategy, and long-term scalability initiatives

Relevant experience beyond the core requirements

• Experience with frameworks such as Flask, FastAPI, or Django

• Experience defining and implementing test strategies, including automated testing approaches

• Experience working in agile teams; experience in coordination or Scrum Master responsibilities is considered a strong advantage

• Experience with GitOps principles and tools such as Argo CD

• Experience deploying and maintaining cloud-based and distributed systems

• Experience with blue/green deployment strategies is considered a plus.
