We're hiring a Senior Platform Engineer to join the CSI squad and strengthen the backend and
infrastructure foundations of PhantomBuster. You'll tackle scalability challenges, MCP and API
evolution, harness engineering for agentic AI workflows, and the tooling that makes the rest of
engineering faster.
● Bordeaux office based role
● Initial 6-month engagement
The Platform team treats reliability and developer experience as a product, not as a constraint.
We want engineers who ship through complexity instead of around it, and who already use AI
every day rather than watching it from a distance.
If you enjoy backend and infrastructure work, are comfortable jumping into frontend when
needed (AI helps), and believe AI is a genuine productivity multiplier when used thoughtfully,
we'd love to talk.
PhantomBuster is a web automation and data extraction SaaS that allows businesses to grow
faster. We enable thousands of companies to boost their growth by finding and connecting with
their ideal customers seamlessly.
Founded in 2016, PhantomBuster developed a toolbox of over 120 flows (Phantoms) to help
businesses scale their sales and marketing processes. We allow our users to automate finding
and enriching data about their potential customers and leverage that data to connect with them.
It's never been easier for non-technical people to extract the data they need, automate actions,
and get their work done better and faster.
We are a team of 70 passionate and kind people looking to help more businesses save time on
repetitive tasks and focus on what matters. Join us so you can enjoy working at a self-funded,
profitable, remote, product-led company!
The Platform team at PhantomBuster is the technical backbone of our SaaS product. We ensure
reliability, scalability, developer experience, and performance across our backend and
infrastructure.
You'll join the CSI squad, one of our Platform squads, alongside a tight group of experienced
engineers. You'll report to Clément, our Engineering Manager, and work daily with our Tech
Lead, Olivier, who acts as the technical reference for the team. You'll also collaborate
frequently with the Product squads (Griffin, Unicorn) and the DataIO/PI squads.
We're looking for someone with strong backend and infrastructure fundamentals,
comfortable enough with frontend (React) to ship end-to-end features when needed (with AI
as a force multiplier), and motivated by the AI transformation happening across our
engineering team.
● Scalability and sharding: our backend architecture is under pressure as we grow. You'll
help design and implement the sharding strategy that unlocks the next order of
magnitude.
● MCP compatibility with our API: keeping our public API surface aligned with the MCP
protocol as both evolve, so AI agents can interact with PhantomBuster reliably.
● Harness engineering: building the infrastructure that lets agentic AI workflows run
safely against our codebase.
● Reliability and observability: improving how we detect, measure, and respond to
issues in production.
● TypeScript with strict rules
● Node.js, PostgreSQL, Redis
● Cloud-based architecture on AWS
● DevOps tools such as Docker, Ansible and Pulumi.
● CI/CD with GitHub Actions and CircleCI
● React for the frontend side of the stack
● AI tooling: Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, internal AGENTS.md/CLAUDE.md conventions,
custom agents Skills and autonomous agents
AI-assisted engineering
● Use AI tools daily as part of your engineering workflow (code generation, reviews,
debugging, exploration)
● Question AI outputs critically. Accuracy and judgment matter more than raw speed
● Contribute to our agentic engineering initiatives: agent reviews, AGENTS.md
conventions, internal autonomous agent (Ghost), harness work
● Ship full-stack features end-to-end when needed, leveraging AI on the frontend side
● Own end-to-end delivery of Platform projects
● Tackle scalability and sharding work as our load grows
● Maintain and evolve our API and its MCP compatibility layer
● Improve reliability, observability, and performance of our systems
● Contribute to our infrastructure: AWS, Docker, Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Pulumi),
CI/CD pipelines
● Prevent bugs and technical debt from reaching production through rigorous code
reviews
● Improve internal tooling, deployment workflows, and the day-to-day developer
experience
● Write tests that match our team's strategy and raise the quality bar where you see gaps
● Drive monitoring and observability improvements in our domain
Collaboration & Support
● Participate in our weekly Support Duty rotation (handling internal requests and Zendesk
tickets escalated to Platform)
● Contribute to our deployment rotation
● Pair with engineers from other squads when backend changes affect their work
Documentation & Knowledge sharing
● Write specifications and decision records for the projects you lead
● Share what you learn through internal demos, written posts, or thorough code reviews
● Start mentoring more junior engineers as you grow into the role
● 7+ years of experience in backend or infrastructure engineering, ideally in SaaS
● Proven track record of shipping and operating real production systems
● Strong in TypeScript / Node.js (Koa)
● Comfortable with PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ/AMQP and distributed multi-service
deploys (backward-compat awareness)
● Solid AWS experience (or equivalent cloud), Docker, IaC and CI/CD pipelines
● Familiar with observability practices (logging, metrics, tracing) and able to use them to
drive improvements
● Comfortable enough with React to ship features end-to-end with AI assistance.
Full-stack curiosity rather than full-stack expertise
● Bonus: exposure to LLM / agentic AI (AWS Bedrock AgentCore, LangChain/LangGraph)
or browser automation / scraping at scale
● You've shipped infrastructure that you still operate today
● You bring up AI in conversation before being asked, and you have informed opinions on
which tools work and which don't
● You've already dealt with scalability work (sharding, partitioning, queue tuning, hot paths)
and have scars to show for it
● You're comfortable opening a Linear issue, a PR, and a Notion doc in the same morning
● You see reliability and developer experience as a product, not as a constraint
● You value pragmatism over perfection, and shipping over polish
● Think infra is something other people should handle
● Arrive with proposals to rewrite the whole stack before understanding why it exists
● Are skeptical that AI has a real place in critical backend or infra work
● Find Support Duty or operational work beneath you
● Need a backlog handed to you to be productive
