Job Title- Senior Platform Engineer

Our Edge Security Technology squad builds, runs and enhances the edge security products and services that protect the CBA Group's internet facing websites, web applications, APIs and perimeter infrastructure from distributed denial of service, web application & API cyberattacks.

Impact & contribution: -

The Senior Platform Engineer in Cyber will be reporting directly to an Engineering Chapter Lead working in our cyber engineering team to ensure the scalability, reliability and security of our platforms.

Roles & Responsibilities: -

• As an engineer, configure and support/migrate security platforms including Splunk, Palo Alto XSOAR and Sentinel
• Deliver security platform use cases across detection, response automation and operational security workflows.
• Develop, tune and operationalise detection rules to improve alert quality and reduce false positives.
• Build and maintain SOAR playbooks to automate response actions and reduce manual effort for security operations.
• Integrate security telemetry from enterprise systems using syslog, event streaming, APIs and observability frameworks such as OpenTelemetry.
• Ensure logging and detection capabilities meet security governance, control and audit requirements.
• Work with security operations and engineering teams to make security platforms reliable, supportable and ready for production use.
• Incident & Problem management.

Essential Skills :-

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team.

• 8+ Years of relevant IT experience
• Strong experience in security platform engineering, with hands-on delivery and operational support of enterprise SIEM, detection, and security telemetry platforms
• Proven experience in SIEM / platform transformation programs, including migration or modernisation of legacy or incumbent platforms such as Splunk , Palo Alto XSIAM.
• Strong experience with Splunk/Palo XSIAM in enterprise environments, including platform operations, data onboarding, search, content support, and transition planning for future-state platform outcomes
• Strong SRE capability, including platform reliability, resilience, observability, service improvement, incident reduction, automation, and operational excellence
• Strong DevSecOps experience, including secure engineering practices, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, platform hardening, secrets management, and embedded security controls across delivery pipelines
• Strong cloud proficiency across AWS and Azure, including cloud-native services, IAM, logging, network telemetry, and security integration patterns
• Experience building and maintaining security data pipelines, including ingestion, parsing, normalisation, enrichment, correlation, retention, and data quality controls
• Strong scripting and automation experience using Python, including platform integration through APIs, automation frameworks, and reusable engineering patterns
• Strong experience supporting production platforms in complex enterprise environments, including troubleshooting, high-severity incident support, root cause analysis, and problem resolution
• Strong knowledge of Linux, Kubernetes and modern platforms troubleshooting practices.

Education Qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree in Engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology
