Job Description

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian Nationals for the positions below at the Institute’s headquarter in Ibadan.

Position: Senior Plant Operator

Duration: 6 months’ renewable

Location: Ibadan

Closing Date: 27 July 2026

DUTIES

· Operate the central air-conditioner chiller on a rotational night/day shift.

· Carry out maintenance, daily checks, and urgent repairs of the large condenser and chiller pumps.

· Servicing and repair of cooling towers.

· Monitoring system parameters such as: Temperature, Pressure, Flow rates and Energy consumption.

· Assist in the installation of air conditioners as needed and maintenance of cold refrigerators, water coolers, etc.

· Keep a record of data on the daily operation of central air conditioning chillers.

· Perform any other job-related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION

A minimum of an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Mechanical Engineering, a Trade Test Certificate, or its equivalent, with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience performing similar functions in a structured organization, is required.

COMPETENCIES

The ideal candidate must have:

· Understanding of chillers types (air-cooled, water-cooled).

· Familiarity with compressors, evaporators, condensers, cooling towers, and pumps.

· Understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer principles

· Ability to start up, operate, and shut down chiller systems safely.

· Knowledge of VRV and inverter systems will be an added advantage.
