Job Description

Toledo Ice Cream, a DFA plant, has immediate job openings for a well-versed Senior Plant Electrician. The Senior Plant Electrician is responsible for installing and repairing electrical systems, apparatus and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications. Diagnose, troubleshoot, test, install and repair electrical parts, equipment, and systems.

Compensation: $36.03-$41.65 hourly, based on experience

Shifts: 1st and 2nd shift openings / Mon-Fri, 8-10 hour shifts

***Saturdays as needed***

Duties:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, test, install, and repair electrical parts, equipment and systems; install or replace circuit breakers, fuses, and variable speed
  • Work on electrical equipment including but not limited to Frequency Drives (VFDs), contactors, overload devices, fixtures, switches, receptacles, and wiring
  • Safely work with multi-phase, high voltage and low voltage electrical systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve control networks, instrumentation, PLC devices (Programmable Logic Control), HMI (Human Machine Interface), VFD, servo, and control problems
  • Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, distribution systems, motor control centers, and motors
  • Assist operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime
  • Maintain communication with other departments, management, and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production
  • Stay up to date on new products, equipment, technology and techniques
  • Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, identify opportunities to improve processes
  • Anticipate parts requirements for the tasks, follow proper purchasing procedures, and acquire parts ahead of anticipated task performance
  • Perform and assist in all operations maintenance activities, in accordance with national, state and local electrical codes
  • Use a computerized maintenance management system (e.g., SAP) to record and access maintenance related information
  • Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues
  • Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Graduation from trade school or technical school in related discipline preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ related experience/training or equivalent combination of education and experience: low/high voltage, troubleshooting/programming PLC, 440/480v, etc.
  • 4 to 6 years of electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, and automation system maintenance experience
  • Certification and/or License – Electrician journeyman license or other location specific electrician license highly preferred; Allen Bradley PLC certifications preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Thorough knowledge of electrical codes, practices, techniques, tools, and equipment: low/high voltage, troubleshooting/programming PLC, 440/480v, etc.
  • Considerable knowledge and application of national, state, local building codes, OSHA, and standard industry safety rules/regulations pertaining to electrical work
  • Able to use standard hand and power tools and equipment used in electrical maintenance activities
  • Able to use to use ladders and scaffolding in a safe, efficient manner
  • Able to work from sketches, drawings, and blueprints
  • Able to inspect equipment, recognize potential problems, and take appropriate corrective action to prevent component failures or equipment down time
  • Able to perform complex or complicated electrical activities/repairs independently
  • Able to complete projects from planning to installation
  • Able to present options and ideas to current processes or procedures
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
