As Horizon Power continues to accelerate the energy transition across regional Western Australia, we're seeking a highly skilled Senior Planning Engineer to play a key role in shaping the future of our generation, transmission and distribution networks. Working within our Energy Planning team, you'll lead complex power system studies, support major customer and renewable energy connections, and influence strategic network planning decisions that enable sustainable regional growth.

This is an opportunity to apply your technical expertise to meaningful projects that support decarbonisation, renewable integration, distributed energy resources (DER) and emerging energy technologies while contributing to the long-term resilience of regional communities.

Influence the future of regional energy by leading the planning decisions that will shape Western Australia's transition to a cleaner, more resilient power system.

As a Senior Planning Engineer at Horizon Power, you'll play a critical role in determining how our networks evolve to meet the changing needs of customers, communities and industry. From enabling renewable energy and battery storage projects to supporting major customer connections and network investment decisions, your work will directly influence the reliability, sustainability and future capability of regional power systems across Western Australia.

Working alongside a highly skilled team of engineers and industry specialists, you'll tackle complex technical challenges, apply advanced power system modelling, and help deliver innovative solutions that support decarbonisation and economic growth throughout our regional communities.

What impact you will make

  • Help create sustainable energy solutions that benefit regional communities for years to come.

What you will do

  • Lead customer connection studies and network planning assessments.
  • Undertake advanced load flow, RMS and EMT power system studies.
  • Develop short, medium and long-term network and capacity plans.
  • Assess renewable energy, energy storage and DER integration opportunities.
  • Provide specialist technical advice on system development and planning standards.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to technical excellence across the team.

What will set you apart

You're more than a technically capable engineer. You're someone who can combine deep analytical expertise with strategic thinking and AI tools, enabling you to solve complex problems and influence critical business decisions.

You will bring:

  • Extensive experience in power system planning, modelling and network analysis.
  • Strong capability across load flow, dynamic and stability studies.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy integration, distributed energy resources and emerging power system technologies.
  • The ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical business outcomes.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the confidence to influence and build trusted relationships.
  • A collaborative approach and passion for sharing knowledge and developing others.
