About the role

As a Senior Planner & Controller within the JP9101 Program at Babcock, you will play a pivotal role in leading planning and controls activities across complex projects and programs.

Operating as a recognised subject matter expert in project planning and scheduling, you’ll provide strategic guidance to project teams and senior stakeholders while driving the development and governance of integrated project control frameworks, schedules, and reporting processes.

Working across a dynamic and highly collaborative environment, you will oversee integrated master schedules, resource and cost-loaded planning, schedule risk analysis, Earned Value Management (EVM), and advanced scenario modelling to support informed decision-making.

You’ll lead interactive planning workshops, coordinate closely with engineering, procurement, warehousing, and production teams, and ensure alignment between project schedules, budgets, risks, and change processes.

This role offers the opportunity to influence project outcomes at both program and portfolio level while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the broader scheduling community.

About you

You are an experienced planning and controls professional with extensive expertise delivering complex scheduling and project controls outcomes within large-scale programs or defence, engineering, infrastructure, or technical environments.

Comfortable navigating ambiguity and competing priorities, you bring strong analytical capability, advanced planning systems knowledge, and the ability to translate complex project data into meaningful insights for stakeholders at all levels.

Your experience includes integrated scheduling, critical path analysis, cost and resource loading, forecasting, schedule risk analysis, and performance reporting within highly regulated or technically demanding environments.

A commitment to continuous improvement, governance, safety, and quality underpins the way you work, along with a strong alignment to organisational values and the ability to mentor and support more junior team members where required.

To be successful in this position you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Project Management.
  • AIPM Project Management Certification - Certified Practicing Project Manager (CPPM)
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Experience tracking large-scale and complex project progress, identifying schedule variances, and preparing regular status reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience maintaining high-level project documentation, including schedules, risk registers, change logs, and progress reports.
  • Experience using PC toolsets and integrating them effectively across various systems and workflows.
