Senior Piping Designer – Perth

Mineral Processing Projects

About the Role

As a Senior Piping Designer, you will lead and contribute to the delivery of high quality piping design solutions across major mining projects. You will provide technical direction to designers and drafters, ensure compliance with relevant Australian and international standards, and support continuous improvement across quality and design processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed piping and plant design drawings for equipment, services, and infrastructure.
  • Oversee and direct the preparation of design and detail drawings from plans, sketches, and specifications.
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance to design and drafting personnel.
  • Review designs for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with relevant codes, standards, and Sedgman Standards.
  • Participate in design reviews, advising on technical drafting challenges and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Maintain and prioritise drafting To Do lists.
  • Ensure all checking and review processes are completed to required standards.
  • Comply with engineering Change Management processes.
  • Contribute to project reporting, including progress, resourcing needs, workload allocation, and budget versus cost.

Quality & Standards

  • Actively participate in the development and continuous improvement of quality management processes.
  • Apply Sedgman standard specifications, typical drawings, and calculations to align with current industry best practice.
  • Ensure designs meet Australian and applicable international standards.

Qualifications

  • Associate Diploma in CAD, or equivalent.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience within a design, consultancy, or operational engineering environment.
  • Strong capability across disciplined based Autodesk suite products.
  • Recent Plant 3D experience.
  • Strong pipe routing experience.
  • Proven experience working on mining and mineral processing projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide design teams and manage competing priorities.
