Location: Antwerp Region, Belgium (Initially on-site, later hybrid possible)

An experienced Pipeline Technical Director / Senior Technical Artist is required to support the modernization of a real-time visualization and simulation environment. The assignment focuses on transitioning legacy visualization workflows to a modern Unreal Engine 5-based pipeline
The consultant will help design, implement, and document a sustainable production pipeline while transferring knowledge to the internal team.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement a modern asset pipeline from DCC tools to Unreal Engine 5.
Define Unreal project structures, asset naming conventions, and data management strategies.
Establish reliable import/export workflows using technologies such as:
FBX
USD
Procedural pipelines
Optimize environment and asset production using:
Blueprints
PCG / procedural workflows
Material instances and master materials
Data-driven environment assembly
Houdini Engine
Develop or support the development of pipeline automation tools.
Create scripting and automation solutions using Python, APIs, and command-line tools.
Implement and advise on version control strategies for Unreal projects.
Review and support multi-user collaboration workflows.
Produce technical documentation and provide knowledge transfer to internal teams.
Required Skills & Experience
Unreal Engine & Technical Art
Minimum 5 years of experience with Unreal Engine development.
Minimum 5 years of experience as:
Technical Director
Pipeline Technical Director
Senior Technical Artist
Strong understanding of:
Unreal asset management
Content cooking
Project structure
Real-time rendering workflows
Pipeline Development
Minimum 5 years of experience building real-time asset pipelines for:
Games
Simulation applications
VFX environments
Experience creating automated workflows and custom tools.
Scripting & Automation
Experience developing tools and pipeline automation using:
Python

Command-line tools
Version Control
Minimum 3 years of experience with version control systems.
Experience supporting collaborative development environments.
Languages
Dutch: CEFR C2 level (mandatory)

Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical or engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
