About the role

Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for Senior Physiotherapist – Paediatrics to join us in a permanent, part time (0.8 FTE) role. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.

The Physiotherapy department at MHS provides a broad range of public and private acute health services with adults, women’s health, neonatology, children and adolescent services. The Mater Hospital Springfield Physiotherapy team provides specialist services to inpatients and outpatients across the continuum of neonatal and paediatric care. The Neonatal Critical Care Unit has 16 cots, Paediatric inpatient unit has 19 beds, with Paediatric Outpatient service to open in the coming months.

Salary range: $66.58 - $71.64 (HP4) per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will lead family centred, evidence based, neonatal, infant and general paediatric clinical care, in an emergency department, inpatient (NCCU, postnatal and paediatric wards) and outpatient settings. This will include caring for infants and children with cardiorespiratory, developmental, neurological, musculoskeletal and orthopaedic concerns, throughout the continuum of care. Please note this role will also involve weekend and on call rosters as required.

Reporting to the Physiotherapy Team Lead, you will be delivering safe, effective and evidence-based clinical services within paediatric services and clinically supervising and training HP3 Physiotherapists in neonatal and paediatric care.

  • Demonstrated competence in the management of pre-term, infant and general paediatric disorders
  • Demonstrated high level clinical practice and independent clinical judgement in the delivery of Paediatric and Neonatal Physiotherapy clinical services
  • Demonstrated competence in the use of outcome measures and assessment tools used in the preterm neonatal, infant and general paediatric populations in the areas of cardiorespiratory, neuro-developmental, musculoskeletal and orthopaedic physiotherapy
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, contribute to decision making and address conflict with profession and multidisciplinary teams, patients, carers and other stakeholders
  • Evidence of clinical leadership, mentorship and supervision within a Paediatric and Neonatal Physiotherapy team
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, develop and evaluate quality and service improvement activities that improve clinical services and patient outcomes
  • Have personal attributes that align with our team Values: solutions focused, displaying resilience but flexibility, and having a positive attitude

About you

The successful applicant will have the following:

  • Bachelor of Physiotherapy (or equivalent) from a recognised tertiary institution
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Eligibility to receive a Medicare provider number
