Responsibilities:

The Division of Pharmacy is a large multisite integrated service with a state-of-the-art medication management system and strong emphasis on pharmaceutical care & clinical pharmacy practices. The services are centred at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Stadium Road Campus, Joint Commission International Accredited (JCIA) facility offering; Inpatient and Outpatient Satellites Pharmacies Distribution, Point of Care Pharmacotherapy Rounds, Drug and Poison Information Centre (DPIC), Pharmacokinetics Consults and one year duration post Pharm .D academic program to train hospital pharmacists.

The incumbent will be responsible to:

  • assist in implementing optimal drug therapy plan, guidelines and protocols; identify, resolve and prevent potential and actual drug related problems by obtaining and evaluating medical literature, patient profiles, laboratory data and review drug use trends, adverse drug reaction reports , guidelines adherence etc
  • ensure capacity building and manpower training which includes to prepare and impart training as an educator in departmental training programs for pharmacists, interns and technicians also ensure periodic key knowledge assessment for all staff
  • assure proper inventory and handling of drugs and other pharmacy related supplies
  • enhance patient safety and cost effectiveness with rational medication usage
  • assure the proper documentation of controlled drugs and the periodic monitoring of these records
  • liaison with physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers and convey information on safe and effective medication usage, also conduct focus groups, quality grand rounds, or share information through sessions or flyers.

Requirements:

You should have:

  • Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy/Pharm D/Master's degree in Pharmacy and additional training in hospital pharmacy is preferred
  • Professional Registration with Pharmacy Council of Pakistan
  • at least four to six years of experience in tertiary care hospital pharmacy, with two years at supervisory level
  • ability to interpret and understand prescriptions, formularies and their pharmacological actions
  • demonstrate supervisory skills and ability to work with people of various background and training
  • may be assigned to work in any area of the hospital pharmacy as and when required
  • experience of continued career development
  • working knowledge of hospital pharmacy services and knowledge of various drug distribution systems
  • teaching experience with pharmacy apprentices or in a school of pharmacy preferred.
