Job Description

The Team

As part of Statewide Hospital Pharmacy, the Safe Medication Practice Unit (SMPU) is a multidisciplinary team whose primary role is to ensure support hospital-wide and statewide activities and programs to improve medication safety. At the statewide level the SMPU Pharmacy Manager leads the team, alongside the Nursing Director, Medical Lead and SmartPump senior pharmacist, within each region there is a senior Pharmacist and Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC).

The Role

  • Support hospital-wide and statewide multidisciplinary activities and programs that improve medication safety.
  • Take a lead role in supporting the medication safety portfolio within the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH).
  • Provide strategic advice and professional support to the Pharmacy Manager - Safe Medication Practice in relation to medication management and medication safety.

You will need

  • Detailed understanding of Commonwealth and State medication and pharmacy-related practice standards and a strong understanding of contemporary hospital pharmacy practice drawn from experience and interstate networks.
  • Proven experience in an acute hospital pharmacy service, and demonstrated teamwork, analytical and creative skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the contemporary medication safety agenda across Australian acute hospitals, including the Australian hospital accreditation framework and safety and quality frameworks.

Details of appointment

Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 30 June 2027.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$131,122 to $138,984 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement.

Salary Packaging

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Allowances

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $135,445 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia or completion of an overseas qualification eligible for skills assessment through the Australian Pharmacy Council.
  • Registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia
  • For pre-registration (intern) pharmacists: Eligible for provisional registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.

*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
