This role partners with managers across a multi-state workforce to guide employee relations matters and ensure compliant employment practices. The position also supports core HR operations, including hiring and termination administration, leave management, compliance oversight, and workers’ compensation coordination.
This role is ideal for an HR professional who takes ownership, exercises sound judgment, and enjoys balancing hands-on HR operations with advising leaders on practical and compliant decisions.
Location Requirements: Must live within a 50-mile radius of Westfalia Technologies Inc Headquarters and within PA or MD.
Job Functions:
Employee Relations & Manager Support
Serve as a trusted HR resource to managers by providing guidance on employee relations matters, including performance management, workplace concerns, and policy interpretation.
Administer employment actions such as hiring, transfers, promotions, and terminations in coordination with managers and People Operations leadership.
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
Monitor and support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across a multi-state workforce, advising leadership on appropriate actions when needed.
Support payroll compliance by reviewing employment actions and HR documentation to ensure alignment with wage and hour laws and regulatory requirements.
Prepare and support state and federal compliance reporting requirements.
Leave, Safety & Workers’ Compensation
Administer employee leave programs including FMLA, ADA accommodations, disability leave, and other applicable leave laws.
Coordinate workers’ compensation claims from initial report through resolution and support return-to-work processes.
Maintain required safety documentation and assist with OSHA reporting and safety recordkeeping in partnership with Safety leadership.
HR Operations & Systems
Maintain accurate employee records and ensure HRIS data integrity within Paycom.
Support onboarding, offboarding, and other employee lifecycle processes while ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
Recruiting & Team Collaboration
Assist with recruiting activities as needed, including interview coordination and candidate communication.
Collaborate with the People Operations team to manage HR workload and support department initiatives.
QualificationsRequired Skills and Abilities:
Strong understanding of employment law and HR compliance practices
Experience advising managers on employee relations and workplace issues
Knowledge of multi-state employment compliance requirements
Ability to interpret employment regulations and apply them to real workplace situations
Strong organizational, documentation, and attention-to-detail skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
HRIS experience required (Paycom preferred)
Education and Experience:
7+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a generalist or HR operations role
Strong experience supporting employee relations and advising managers
Experience supporting multi-state workforces
Solid understanding of employment law and HR compliance
Experience administering FMLA, ADA accommodations, and leave programs
Experience managing workers’ compensation claims
HRIS experience required (Paycom preferred)
Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred
HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, etc.) is a plus
Experience supporting distributed workforces in engineering, manufacturing, logistics, or field-service environments (Preferred)
Physical Requirements:
Ability to communicate effectively in person and electronically.
Occasional standing or walking within the office and manufacturing environments.
Travel Requirements: Minimal travel may be required (0-5%) for meetings, training, or company events.
Work Authorization: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
