Job Description

Senior Payroll Specialist

Veralto Corporation

Location: Chicago, IL area (Remote with local proximity to Wood Dale office preferred)
Function: Veralto Corporate HR – Global Payroll (Shared Services)

About Veralto

Veralto is a global industrial technology company dedicated to safeguarding the world’s most vital resources. With approximately 17,000 associates worldwide, it provides solutions that ensure access to clean water and support the safety, traceability, and quality of essential goods.

The company operates through two main segments: Water Quality and Product Quality & Innovation, serving industries such as water, food & beverage, pharmaceuticals, and industrial manufacturing.

About The Role

Veralto is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to support the delivery of accurate, compliant, and timely payroll across the United States, while contributing to the evolution of the Global Payroll function.

This role is part of Veralto’s Corporate HR Shared Services organization, within the Global Payroll team. The function is currently undergoing a transformation—from a decentralized structure into a more standardized and scalable global payroll model—focused on improving consistency, strengthening controls, and enhancing operational efficiency.

This opening is primarily aligned to the Chicago area (Wood Dale), where the team maintains operational touchpoints. While the role is fully remote, proximity to the Chicago area is preferred to support occasional office-related needs.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned payroll professional with strong execution capabilities, high attention to detail, and the ability to operate independently in a dynamic environment. This role is well-suited for someone who brings a leadership mindset and ownership, even if they are not yet at a formal manager level.

What You’ll Do:

  • Execute end-to-end payroll processing across multiple US pay groups and legal entities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.

  • Own key components of the payroll lifecycle, including data validation, reconciliations, issue resolution, and final outputs.

  • Support payroll execution within a Workday–ADP environment, including pre-work, validation, and troubleshooting.

  • Administer complex pay components such as commissions, bonuses, equity transactions, severance, and retroactive adjustments in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Monitor payroll timelines and proactively escalate risks when inputs are incomplete or delayed.

  • Perform payroll reviews and reconciliations to identify discrepancies before finalization.

  • Maintain SOX-compliant, audit-ready documentation and support audit requests.

  • Manage employee lifecycle payroll activities (new hires, changes, separations).

  • Respond to employee inquiries through shared inbox/ticketing processes.

  • Prepare payroll reports and support stakeholders with accurate and timely data.

  • Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to standardization and automation efforts.

  • Operate effectively in an evolving environment while maintaining strong control discipline.

Team & Operating Context:

  • Part of the Global Payroll function within Corporate HR Shared Services.

  • Supports US payroll operations while collaborating with a distributed, global team.

  • Works closely with HR, Finance, and external payroll vendors.

  • Contributes to a payroll function that is actively evolving toward a global, standardized model.

Job Requirements:

  • 5–7 years of experience in US payroll operations (multi-state, multi-entity).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, HR, or related field.

  • Strong experience with ADP platforms (Enterprise, eTime, Smart Compliance, Reporting).

  • Advanced knowledge of US payroll regulations (federal, state, and local).

  • Proven ability to manage end-to-end payroll processes with accountability.

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPP certification (strongly preferred).

  • Experience with Workday or similar HCM systems.

  • Experience in shared services or global payroll environments.

  • Exposure to payroll transformations or process improvement initiatives.

  • Demonstrated leadership mindset, even in an individual contributor role.

Additional Details:

  • Individual contributor role with strong ownership and growth potential.
