Job Description

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A PAYROLL PROCESSING ROLE, NOT A TECHNICAL ROLE. Candidate must have experience with processing payroll, preferably across multiple states. CPP Certification preferred, not required

Analyzes business needs based on industry best practices, defines requirements, implements and tests systems, prepares advanced reporting, and executes compliance in support of all payroll objectives. Essential Functions:

  • Audits payroll work-flows and processes for adherence to regulatory guidelines and communicating all issues to Payroll Manager and Payroll Director
  • Assists in the development of service standards, procedures, and controls for human resources and payroll systems, and offers solutions to diagnosed problems.
  • Researches IRS, DOL and FLSA legislation when needed and implements changes as necessary to assure compliance. Provides audit worksheets to both internal and external audit sources based on inquiries and investigations.
  • Provides troubleshooting, problem analysis, debugging, and resolution of payroll system issues. Performs system updates, patches, service releases, and upgrades as needed.
  • Develops complex reports and queries on an as needed basis to provide Payroll data for management, surveys and other hospital staff as necessary. Researches employee inquiries using the HRIS and Payroll systems and resolves problems.
  • Consults with HRIS System Analysts and Information Services in the design and implementation of systems related to Human Resources/Payroll tax processes.


Education Requirement:

Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, accounting, or healthcare administration; or equivalent work-related experience required.

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation required.


Skills:

  • Excellent personal computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet applications (i.e. Microsoft Word/Excel/Access/Visio) required. Experience creating Microsoft Add-in queries or Sequel required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously while effectively meeting all deadlines and budgets.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and strong analytical skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills required to interact effectively with all levels of staff.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in payroll, finance, accounting or related field; payroll tax reporting experience and year-end processing desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll practices and regulations including local, state and federal policies/regulations (including FLSA, DOL, IRS, ERISA guidelines & standards).
  • Advanced knowledge of payroll systems principles and techniques, and knowledge of information systems principles desired.
