Help us lead the future of commercial aircraft modification in the BGS (Boeing Global Services) Commercial Modifications Europe team. We are looking for Lead Part 21J Cabin Interiors, Design & Certification Engineers who are able to excel in driving safety and technical excellence, innovation and best practices within matrix organization structure.

Reporting to the Payloads Integration Manager, the successful candidate will be an integral part of supporting all BGS Commercial Modifications Europe activities to develop, certify and integrate new interior design solutions such as interior cabin changes, Cargo Handling, Water & Waste Systems and Exterior Liveries. The candidate will be working directly with airline and leasing customers while collaborating with BGS global engineering services team across multiple time-zones using variety of 3-D and 2-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools and/or other design methods, under the guidance of our EASA Design Organisation Handbook (DOH) across all Boeing aircraft models, including programs such as 747, 767, 777, 787, 737NG, 737MAX. 

Position Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will perform the following duties:

1. Develop engineering design solutions such as:

  • Modification to cabin layout by introducing new LOPA (Layout of Passenger Accommodation) and its associated changes such as Passenger Service Units (PSU), Emergency Equipment etc.
  • New seating product development and certification
  • New In-Flight Entertainment and Communications (IFEC) development and integration
  • Installation of Galleys, monuments, lavatories throughout the cabin to suit end customer requirements
  • Modification to the existing aircraft environmental systems such as air conditioning systems, water and waste, and interior mood lighting
  • Introduction of new aircraft paint schemes (liveries) and emergency marking system
  • Installation/Modification of new OFCR (Overhead Flight Crew Rest) and OFAR (Overhead Flight Attendant Rest)

2. Produce substantiation documents in order to demonstrate compliance with relevant regulatory and operational requirements, including;

  • Flammability documentation
  • Design reports (egress, direct view, etc.)
  • Ground test plans and reports
  • Cabin walkthrough plans and reports
  • System Safety Analysis for interior components and systems.

3. Compile engineering accomplishment documentation and instructions for continued airworthiness including;

  •  Service Bulletins / accomplishment instructions
  •  Aircraft and component manual supplements

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in aerospace or other safety critical engineering.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Demonstrate competency using CATIA V5, 3DExperience and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of both Type Design and Continuing Airworthiness for part 25 aircraft.
  • Knowledge of the certification of part 25 aircraft and their aircraft interior reconfiguration programmes and primary and secondary aircraft structures.
  • A working knowledge of EASA regulatory and applicable airworthiness requirements in particular CS-25, 14CFR Part 25 & Part 21J design organisations. 
  • Experience of EASA design organisation projects along with strong time management skills

This requisition is for an international, locally hired position in Istanbul, Turkiye, Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll and will be commensurate with experience and qualifications and in accordance with applicable Turkiye law. Employment is subject to the candidate's ability to satisfy all Turkiye labor and immigration formalities.
