Job Description

In this role, you'll:

  • Provide critical support to Portfolio Ministers by coordinating a range of parliamentary services through effective engagement with Government Business and Services. The role delivers high-quality research and writing, including preparing parliamentary responses, budget estimates and supporting Standing Order 52 responses.
  • Extend your support during parliamentary sessions and contribute to capability development and continuous improvement during non-sitting periods, ensuring that Transport for NSW meets its parliamentary obligations efficiently and effectively.
  • Coordinate the preparation of high-quality, timely parliamentary responses, providing clear direction on requirements, and ensure accuracy and alignment with government policy and priorities to maintain quality standards.
  • Provide real-time support and intelligence during parliamentary sessions by attending and/or monitoring key parliamentary debates and committee meetings to offer immediate support, gather intelligence for early identification of issues to Transport staff and ensuring Transport’s position is accurately communicated and recorded.
  • Support the preparation of budget estimates by coordinating the timely development of briefing notes, supporting witnesses, and collating accurate data and responses from across client Divisions and rail operators, ensuring submissions are clear, complete, and meet deadlines.
  • Engage with internal teams to anticipate potential parliamentary scrutiny and prepare relevant supporting materials.
  • Maintain flexibility for urgent parliamentary responses by being responsive and prepared to work after hours when necessary to address urgent matters.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating parliamentary processes, preparing high-quality written responses, and ensuring alignment with government policies and priorities.
  • Excellent written, authoring and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to draft clear, professional well-crafted customer responses and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and SMEs.
  • Excellent client engagement and relationship management skills, with demonstrated ability to coordinate and collaborate across diverse teams.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure, manage high-priority requests, and meet tight deadlines, while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards.
