Job Description

Under the direction of Painter, Ld. or Painter, Sr. in performing the duties of an aircraft painter. This includes assisting with layouts of paint schemes, decals and numbers, preparation of surfaces, determining which type of paint to be used, application of all paint products on aircraft and components, curing techniques, cleaning and care of equipment and preparation of work-related documentation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Perform any of the following duties as directed by Hangar Manager, Painter, Ld. or Painter, Sr.

  • Prepare surface to be painted by sanding, media blasting, chemical stripping and/or washing with solvent, or other specified cleaning agent

  • Assist with masking for paint schemes, numbers, decals, etc.

  • Determine type and color of paint to be applied from specifications of work order

  • Draw paint from supply

  • Prepare paint for application as required

  • Be proficient in the application of all paint products on aircraft and components

  • Place work in drying room

  • Clean and repair spray equipment

  • Perform simple clerical duties involved in annotating work order indicating thereon the time and material expended on the job

  • Keep work areas clean

  • Make suggestions for the safe/efficient operation of the crew

  • Performing miscellaneous related duties as assigned which collectively speaking, required no greater attributes

  • Responsible for supporting company Safety Management System activities

  • Comply with company HS&E policies and procedures

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED)

  • Vocational school diploma in Auto Body & Painting (optional)

  • Two or more years of related experience

  • Understand and provide visible support of Destination Zero

  • Practice job duties with Safety at the core of all tasks

  • A job is not complete unless it is done safely

  • Stand-Up, Speak-Out, and Take-Action – Do the right thing when no one is looking, report safety concerns, near misses and incidents to management, use the Stop Work authority to immediately stop unsafe acts or work practices.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The special vision abilities for this job are close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a moderate noise level.
