The Senior Packaging Specialist is a key role within Nestle’s Technical Applications Group (TAG) that serves as the technical lead on highly complex and strategic projects. They are responsible for overseeing and managing the entire lifecycle of packaging development, ensuring the solution is sustainable, effective and compliant. The Senior Specialist collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive initiatives from concept to launch on new product innovations and ongoing brand maintenance projects. They partner closely with the Marketing team, leverage consumer insights and serve as a subject matter expert to guarantee package solutions delight our customers and consumers.
The Senior Specialist works closely with our factories, ensuring technical knowledge is shared effectively and productivity is supported. This packaging engineer also contributes to our organization’s culture of continuous improvement and development by coaching others and fostering professional growth within the TAG organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute Innovation and Renovation strategy for Nestle Nutrition division.
- Manage packaging development timelines, ensuring critical information is communicated to key stakeholders and all critical milestones are met.
- Liaise and leverage industry and global Nestle network to construct creative development activities (e.g. mockup, benchtop, pilot, distribution testing) to achieve project goals and meet consumer/customer expectations.
- Successfully introduce and support new product, packaging and processes within factories and external manufacturers.
- Provide sustainability guidance on package structures to support global Nestle sustainability goals.
- Collaborate and influence internal and external project teams to develop, industrialize, and launch on a complex range of projects.
- Continuously improve/optimize current product, packaging, and processes within factories and external manufacturers according to local business needs and supply situation and/or implementation of initiatives.
- Lead technical projects including technical assistance, sustainability, sourcing, quality improvements, compliance, and cost savings.
- Provide first line of support to factories by providing packaging knowledge transfer, guidance and input to Nestle Operations for Standard Operating Procedures and eliminate root cause of assistance requests.
- Develop, define and coach the competencies and training materials required for packaging mastership to enable manufacturing excellence.
REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:
• A BS or MS degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering Packaging Science, Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Position requires approximately 25-50% travel.
EXPERIENCE:
• Prefer minimum 5 years of product/packaging/process development experience in CPG or related field of work in factory environment or equivalent supply industry experience.
Preferred product/packaging/process development experience in aseptic, hot fill, retort technologies.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Ability to work in a fast paced and high performing environment.
• Exceptional organizational skills & ability to manage multiple projects and assignments.
• Strong communication skills: interpersonal, presentation, oral and written.
• Highly motivated, critical thinker, goal oriented and easily adapts to change.

• Preferred: SAP & CAPE Palletization Program.
