From our longstanding efforts to support American farmers, military, veterans, and first responders, to emergency drinking water donations and responsible drinking programs, we are guided by our commitment to the communities we call home and the 65,000 hardworking Americans who bring our beer to life. The Senior Packaging Designer will play a key role in bringing our brands to life on shelf through innovative, consumer-focused packaging design. This individual thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy environment and has a proven track record designing packaging for consumer packaged goods (CPG), with experience in beer, beverage, alcohol, or food brands strongly preferred.

As a Senior Packaging Designer, you will own the creative development of packaging from concept through production, translating brand strategies into compelling packaging systems that stand out at retail while maintaining brand consistency. You will partner closely with Brand Marketing, Innovation, Insights, Commercialization, and Production teams to develop packaging that balances creativity, functionality, manufacturability, and business objectives.

This role requires a designer who understands both the creative and technical aspects of packaging—including structural design, print production, typography, color management, and production-ready artwork.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the creative development and execution of primary and secondary packaging across multiple brands and product lines.

  • Design innovative packaging solutions that strengthen brand identity, drive consumer engagement, and maximize shelf impact.

  • Translate creative briefs into strategic packaging concepts while balancing consumer insights, brand guidelines, production requirements, and commercial objectives.

  • Create packaging concepts, mockups, renderings, and presentation materials for internal reviews and stakeholder approvals.

  • Prepare production-ready artwork including typography, image retouching, color management, and print-ready files.

  • Partner closely with Brand Marketing, Innovation, Commercialization, Regulatory, and external print vendors throughout the packaging development process.

  • Review printer proofs and pre-production samples to ensure artwork accuracy and production quality.

  • Maintain packaging design systems and brand standards across multiple product portfolios.

  • Adapt and extend packaging systems across new product launches, line extensions, seasonal programs, and limited-time offerings.

  • Support POS materials, retail displays, and complementary marketing assets as needed to ensure cohesive brand execution.

  • Stay current on packaging trends, consumer insights, sustainability initiatives, materials, printing technologies, and competitive activity within the CPG and beverage industries.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Packaging Design Expertise: Extensive experience designing consumer packaging from concept through production with a strong understanding of packaging systems, structural considerations, and print production.

  • CPG Brand Experience: Demonstrated success creating packaging for consumer packaged goods, with beer, alcohol, beverage, or food industry experience strongly preferred.

  • Creative Problem Solving: Ability to develop innovative packaging solutions that balance creativity, brand strategy, production feasibility, and consumer appeal.

  • Production Knowledge: Strong understanding of packaging materials, print processes, color management (CMYK/Pantone), typography, prepress, and production workflows.

  • Visual Storytelling: Exceptional ability to communicate brand identity through packaging design while maintaining consistency across product portfolios.

  • Project Management: Experience managing multiple packaging projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Attention to Detail: Highly detail-oriented with experience preparing production-ready artwork and reviewing print proofs for accuracy.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner effectively across Marketing, Brand, Innovation, Commercialization, Regulatory, and external agency/vendor partners.

  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in an evolving environment with shifting priorities and aggressive launch timelines.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Packaging Design, Visual Communications, or related field preferred.

  • 5+ years of professional packaging design experience within a CPG organization or creative agency supporting CPG brands.

  • Experience designing packaging for beer, beverage, alcohol, food, or other consumer packaged goods strongly preferred.

  • Strong portfolio showcasing packaging design work from concept through final production, including brand systems, packaging architecture, and shelf-ready execution.

  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.

  • Experience creating and editing packaging and preparing production-ready files.

  • Working knowledge of print production, color management, packaging materials, and vendor proofing processes.

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners throughout product commercialization and packaging development.

  • Self-starter with a "get things done" mentality who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple packaging initiatives simultaneously.

  • Passion for consumer brands, packaging innovation, and creating impactful experiences at retail.

  • Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
