What will you do?

You will be a part of IP Legal team based at Pune, India and owner of Johnson Controls International

OSS compliance program. Besides handling OSS compliance of complex product software, you will be collaborating with legal experts and engineering teams on frequent basis. Along with this, you will have great opportunity to lead comprehensive OSS audits to enhance software development process, fostering culture of compliance and innovation.

How will you do it?

At the direction of legal team

• Conduct comprehensive reviews of complex product software which includes microservice/embedded device firmware in regards with licensing issues and OSS compliance aspects
• Utilize scanning tools like FOSSA/ GitHUB security/JFrog-Xray and Orchestration tools like Cybeats for effective OSS analysis and documentation.
• Process enhancement using Orchestration tools like FOSSA for optimizing review lead time, enforcing organization OSS policy for effective outcomes.
• Collaborate with deployment team, development teams & legal team to implement best practices for OSS usage and compliance.
• Address critical license issues, especially those related to GPL licenses, and provide solutions to ensure compliance from legal perspective.
• Perform OSS audits to identify potential risks and areas for improvement in the software development process.
• Stay updated on industry trends, license changes, and emerging tools in the OSS domain.
• Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to educate and enforce OSS policies.

What we look for?

Required

• B.E/ B. Tech – Electrical/ Electronics/Computer Science
• 2-5 years of hands-on experience in OSS review and compliance.
• Hands on Knowledge of FOSSA/ GitHub security/BlackDuck HUB or any other OSS scanning tool
• Sound knowledge of OSS compliance for containerized application
• Understands how various open-source software licenses apply to commercial software distributions.
• Proven experience in handling critical license issues, particularly for GPL licenses.
• Working knowledge on programming language skills (C/C++, Java, Python etc.) / frameworks (.NET/ Node js etc.) /package mangers NPM/Maven & SDLC
• Maintains a working knowledge of Open-source software principles and licenses relevant trends, technologies, and best practices in open-source software.

Preferred

• Knowledge of microservices/cloud deployment (Azure/AWS etc.)
• Min 1-2 Years experience in software development
