Job Description

RWE Supply & Trading GmbH
To start as soon as possible, full time / part time, permanent

About the role

RWE Supply & Trading is scaling what’s next in UK power and green certificates. Join a high-performing team that’s now expanding into flexibility purchase agreements and storage solutions — giving you real freedom, visibility and the chance to build a greenfield growth area.

  • Originate and close PPAs and green certificate agreements across both asset‑backed and trading‑backed structures
  • Design and structure innovative, risk-balanced solutions, including flexibility purchase agreements, storage-backed structures and battery optimisation-linked products.
  • Build and manage a high‑quality pipeline in partnership with generators, storage developers, suppliers and large energy consumers
  • Lead end‑to‑end negotiations and steer approvals with Portfolio Management, Trading, Risk, Legal & Compliance and Finance
  • Turn market, regulatory and credit insights into compelling term sheets and proposals that create measurable value
  • Strengthen RWEST’s market position through long‑term partnerships and a trusted, solutions‑led presence in UK power
  • Operate across commercial tenors from 6 months up to c. 15 years, shaping structures that fit customer needs and RWEST’s portfolio

Job requirements and experience

  • Proven track record originating complex commodity deals, including PPAs (up‑ and downstream/RtM)
  • Experience with flexibility purchase agreements, storage-backed structures, BESS route-to-market, optimisation, tolling or other structured power products; ideally across both asset-backed and trading-backed origination models
  • Commercially sharp negotiator with clear P&L accountability and strong business acumen
  • Deep understanding of market, credit, regulatory, legal and liquidity risks; able to structure balanced risk–return contracts
  • Established relationships across the UK flexibility ecosystem (e.g. storage developers, aggregators, utilities)
  • Strategic and adaptable mindset, comfortable adjusting approaches in a dynamic regulatory landscape and across varied tenors
  • Skilled communicator who can develop, document and explain complex structures to senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong networker and influencer; a true team player with the drive to advance RWEST’s growth in renewables and trading

Further we welcome applications from individuals who may not be able to commit to full-time roles. At RWEST, finding the right person for the job is our top priority, and we are willing to explore flexible arrangements.
