Senior Oracle Database Administrator (Freelance)

Brussels, Belgium

Start: June 2026 | Duration: Until December 2026

Full-time | Hybrid

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Oracle Database Administrator to join the IT Operations team within a major public sector organization. You will play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of critical database environments that support essential services.

As part of a dedicated DBA team, you will manage primarily Oracle databases, with additional exposure to PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server environments.

Your Responsibilities


  • Manage and monitor Oracle database environments (12c, 18c, 19c)

  • Oversee backup and recovery processes using RMAN

  • Perform database installations, migrations, and upgrades

  • Handle day-to-day operations, monitoring, and incident resolution

  • Manage user access, security, and permissions

  • Support and maintain distributed database environments (replication, log shipping)

  • Troubleshoot issues and liaise with Oracle Support when needed

  • Contribute to design and implementation of new database solutions

  • Optimize database performance through tuning and best practices

  • Document configurations, processes, and changes

Your Profile

Must-Have


  • Minimum 5 years' experience as an Oracle DBA

  • Strong experience with:

    • Oracle database administration (12c, 18c, 19c)
    • RMAN backups and recovery
    • Oracle Enterprise Manager

    • Distributed environments (replication, log shipping)

  • Experience with installations and migrations of Oracle environments

  • Strong knowledge of database security and user management

  • Experience with SQL and PL/SQL

  • Solid understanding of DBMS environments

  • Dutch proficiency at CEFR level C2

Nice to Have


  • Experience with database performance tuning

  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL and/or MS SQL Server

  • Experience with Linux and Bash scripting

  • Familiarity with Oracle Spatial, Text, and Partitioning

  • Experience with enterprise storage systems
