As a Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA), you will play a central part in keeping core Oracle platforms secure, available, and optimized while working closely with application, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams to support complex client needs.
Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and maintain Oracle databases across development, test, UAT, and production environments.
- Perform Oracle database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and ongoing maintenance.
- Monitor database health, availability, capacity, performance, storage growth, and resource utilization to support reliability and uptime.
- Perform Oracle performance tuning, including SQL tuning, execution plan analysis, indexing, memory configuration, and database optimization.
- Manage Oracle RMAN backup and recovery strategies.
- Design, implement, and maintain Oracle Data Guard environments for high availability and disaster recovery.
- Support and administer Oracle RAC environments.
- Troubleshoot database performance, availability, connectivity, and operational issues.
- Perform database refreshes, migrations, cloning, and environment synchronization.
- Implement database security controls, including access management, roles, privileges, and auditing.
- Support database-related incidents, problems, and service requests within agreed SLAs.
- Collaborate with application developers, infrastructure teams, system administrators, cybersecurity teams, and vendors to resolve technical issues.
- Support production deployments and database changes in line with change-management procedures.
- Develop and maintain database administration procedures, technical documentation, and operational runbooks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of Oracle database administration experience in enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle 12c, Oracle 19c, or comparable enterprise Oracle versions, including administration in Linux or Unix environments.
- Strong experience with Oracle RMAN backup and recovery, Oracle Data Guard, and Oracle RAC.
- Proficiency with SQL and PL/SQL, along with practical database performance tuning experience.
- Production support experience in enterprise Oracle environments, including SLA-driven incident and service-request handling, troubleshooting live database issues, root-cause analysis, permanent fixes, and supporting production deployments and database changes through formal change-management procedures.
- Basic Shell or Bash scripting skills for database administration and automation.
- Clear communication skills for explaining production incidents, root causes, risks, and technical recommendations to technical stakeholders and management.
- Experience in banking or other highly regulated environments is a plus.
