Downer’s Maintenance & ITS business provides a range of services in road network management and strives to deliver better community experiences through smarter solutions.  We assist road and intelligent transport systems asset owners to extract maximum value from their assets and provide road networks that meet the demand of today’s ever-changing environment. We operate from a network of over 50 depots and maintain more than 33,000 km of road.

Downer is looking for a detail-driven Senior Operational Support Officer to provide essential administrative and depot support that keeps our projects running smoothly. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and love making things happen behind the scenes, this role is for you.

The location of this position can be Port Pirie, Port Augusta or Port Lincoln.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide high‑quality administrative and financial support across multiple depots, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timeliness

  • Coordinate daily workflows and provide guidance and quality oversight for Operational Support Officers

  • Process and support POs, invoicing, receipting, job costing and month‑end activities

  • Coordinate depot requirements including PPE, consumables, travel and accommodation to support operational readiness across locations

  • Work closely with operational teams, shared services and suppliers to resolve issues and support smooth delivery

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, onboarding and consistency across administrative practices

What you’ll bring

  • Demonstrated experience in senior administration or operational support roles within a field‑based or operational environment

  • Proven capability in leading, mentoring or coordinating small teams while remaining hands‑on in a fast‑paced setting

  • Strong experience using ERP systems (e.g. JDE, SAP, Oracle or similar) and Microsoft Office, with high attention to detail in transactional processing

  • Solid understanding of financial and operational processes, including job costing, commitments and month‑end support

  • Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proactive and solutions‑focused approach

  • A current C Class Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel regularly between depot locations as required
