1. Strategic Deployment of Operational Excellence and the Operating System
This role is responsible for leading, in partnership with the Area Head of Operational Excellence, the definition and implementation of The Maersk Way (TMW) and the Operating System across the organization. The position ensures consistency in the application of standards, tools, and performance management routines across functions and sites, translating business priorities into structured continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, the role ensures that the operating model is implemented in a systemic manner by aligning processes, tools, and behaviors to deliver sustainable results.
2. Performance Improvement and Advanced Problem Solving
The position leads complex continuous improvement initiatives impacting critical KPIs, applying advanced Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. It is responsible for ensuring robust root cause analysis and promoting structured solutions that eliminate the true causes of issues rather than addressing symptoms. Additionally, the role elevates the quality standard of problem-solving practices across the organization by ensuring discipline in the definition and execution of corrective actions. This approach aligns with a performance management model that prioritizes structured resolution of performance gaps over simple results reporting.
3. Technical Leadership, Coaching, and Capability Building
The role serves as a subject matter expert in Operational Excellence, providing coaching and guidance to Operational Excellence teams and functional leaders. It drives capability development in continuous improvement methodologies, The Maersk Way tools, and performance management practices, helping to strengthen a culture of discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement. Furthermore, the role ensures that Operational Excellence acts as an organizational enabler by building capabilities within teams rather than centralizing problem-solving activities.
4. Governance and Excellence in Performance Management
The position is responsible for ensuring the quality and effectiveness of performance management routines, validating that KPI monitoring, performance gap analysis, and action planning are executed with rigor and consistency. It identifies opportunities to enhance the implementation of the Operating System and proposes improvements that increase its effectiveness and sustainability. Additionally, the role ensures that critical risks are identified and escalated in a timely manner. It contributes to the development of a structured performance management framework that enables the proactive identification and closure of performance gaps.
5. Continuous Improvement Portfolio and Stakeholder Management
The role is responsible for structuring and prioritizing the area's continuous improvement portfolio, ensuring alignment with business strategic priorities and focusing on high-impact opportunities.
The position collaborates closely with functional and operational leaders to drive commitment and effective execution of improvement initiatives, acting as a key influencer across the organization. It also provides clear visibility into progress, risks, and results, serving as a bridge between operational execution and organizational leadership to ensure alignment and successful delivery of strategic objectives.
