About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi
As a Senior Operational Controls Assurance Analyst, you will play a key role in strengthening ACC’s operational control environment by delivering practical, insight‑driven assurance that supports effective day‑to‑day service delivery. You will lead operational control assurance activities, including control analysis, testing, and documentation, and assess whether controls are designed appropriately and operating as intended. Working across ACC’s operational environment, you will apply sound judgement to balance assurance expectations with operational realities, supporting shared ownership of control improvements and more consistent, fit‑for‑purpose ways of working within first‑line risk and control management.

You’ll play a pivotal role in leading operational control assurance activities, influencing control design and effectiveness, and contributing to keeping Kiwis safe at work, at home, and everywhere in between.

The appointing salary for this role is $102,000 to $119,000 based on experience and we offer an additional 9% superannuation contribution. ACC offers a comprehensive benefits package which at present includes an advantageous superannuation scheme with features like no mandatory employee contribution, optional life and income protection insurance, and flexibility to change to a locked plan at any time.

You will bring:

  • Experience in operational risk, controls, or assurance environments, or equivalent experience working closely with operational controls and improvement activities
  • Strong understanding of how people, processes, and systems interact to deliver operational outcomes
  • Experience assessing and testing controls, with the ability to form clear, well‑reasoned conclusions
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work constructively with business teams and influence outcomes
  • Ability to communicate assurance insights clearly and practically to support understanding and action
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail and an end‑to‑end perspective
  • Experience documenting processes, risks, controls, and remediation actions in a structured and accessible way
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and contribute positively within a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to quickly build an understanding of ACC’s operating context, legislative environment, and service delivery model
  • You must hold New Zealand work rights at the time of application
