
This role is a full-time opportunity to join Local Peoples team permanently, with your first project supporting Services Australia in delivering enterprise-scale customer communication solutions. You will contribute to the design, development, and support of critical correspondence platforms that enable secure, accessible, and high-quality communications for millions of Australians.
You will play a key role in delivering robust document generation solutions across print and digital channels, supporting business operations and legislative requirements within a large and complex government environment.
You will work within a multidisciplinary delivery team to design and implement OpenText Exstream/StreamServe solutions that support enterprise correspondence and communication services.
Operating in an Agile environment, you will collaborate with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to deliver scalable, high-quality document solutions. The role includes an initial onsite period (first 6 weeks full-time), followed by a hybrid working arrangement (minimum 3 days onsite per week). Canberra is preferred, with Melbourne, Brisbane, and Adelaide considered.
Design, develop, configure, and maintain correspondence solutions using OpenText Exstream/StreamServe
Translate business and legislative requirements into structured document and template designs
Develop reusable components, scripts, and business rules
Integrate document solutions with enterprise systems and output services
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to data, formatting, and performance
Support testing activities including unit, system, and user acceptance testing
Contribute to release planning, deployment, and post-release reviews
Maintain technical documentation and design artefacts
Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and accessibility requirements
Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes
3–5+ years’ experience working with OpenText Exstream and/or StreamServe.
Strong experience in document generation, template design, and variable data printing.
Proven experience working with complex, data-driven document structures (e.g. section-based tables).
Experience with data mapping across XML, JSON, delimited, and columnar file formats.
Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, .NET, JCL, Compuset, or M204 User Language.
Experience working within large-scale enterprise or government environments.
Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
Demonstrated experience delivering OpenText Exstream/StreamServe solutions in complex environments.
Ability to design and implement scalable document and correspondence solutions.
Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in troubleshooting data and formatting issues.
Experience working across development, testing, and release cycles.
Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work effectively within Agile delivery teams
Experience with systems integration and enterprise platforms
Exposure to release and deployment processes and tools
Experience in highly regulated or government environments
Knowledge of configuration management practices
Must be an Australian Citizen
Must be able to obtain and maintain Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) clearance
Canberra preferred; Melbourne, Brisbane, or Adelaide considered
Initial 6 weeks full-time onsite
Hybrid working arrangement (minimum 3 days onsite per week)
Must be able to attend the office within a reasonable distance if required
