OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE

  • Serve as the site-level technical expert and coach in Lean, Six Sigma, and the AGILE Operating System (AOS), ensuring these methodologies are effectively applied and embedded at gemba.
  • Build deep and sustainable Operational Excellence (OE) capability by coaching leaders, managers, OE Champions, and teams through hands-on application, enabling teams to solve problems and improve performance independently.
  • Act as a partner to the OE Lead, translating strategic priorities and improvement themes into robust execution through OE methods
  • Foster a culture of disciplined problem solving, data-driven decision making, and continuous learning, aligned with site and global eAGILE/AOS principles.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

A. OE Coaching & Gemba Enablement

  • Coach leaders, managers, OE Champions, and cross-functional teams in the practical application of Lean, Six Sigma, and AOS, enabling consistent and effective problem solving at all levels.
  • Facilitate hands-on OE activities at gemba, embedding structured problem solving, standard work, visual management, tiered meetings, Leader GEMBA and Equipment Efficiency into daily operations.
  • Act as a technical coach and facilitator in priority improvement initiatives, ensuring rigor, data integrity, and sustainability of improvements.

B. Capability Building & Skills Transfer

  • Design and deliver OE workshops, trainings, and on-the-job coaching, with strong emphasis on learning-by-doing and capability transfer.
  • Develop OE Champions and local change agents through coaching, co-facilitation, and feedback, strengthening site OE maturity.

C. Partnership with OE Lead & Governance

  • Partner with the OE Lead by providing technical OE expertise and gemba insights, supporting effective eAGILE roadmap delivery.
  • Provide fact-based observations, lessons learned, and technical recommendations to support Business Excellence and SLT decision making.

D. Culture & Network Contribution

  • Act as a role model for continuous improvement mindset, disciplined execution, and data-driven thinking
  • Contribute to global and regional OE / AGILE communities by sharing best practices and site learnings, while continuously developing own expertise.

Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

  • Third level qualification in Scientific or Engineering discipline
  • Lean or Six Sigma qualification desirable
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other GMP-regulated manufacturing environments desirable.
  • Demonstrated passion for not accepting the status quo and self-driven to improve the business
  • Courage of conviction and open to critical feedback
  • Recognized as having high potential

Takeda Compensation and Benefits Summary:

  • Allowances: Commutation, Housing, Overtime Work etc.

  • Salary Increase: Annually, Bonus Payment: Twice a year

  • Working Hours: Headquarters (Osaka/ Tokyo) 9:00-17:30, Production Sites (Osaka/ Yamaguchi) 8:00-16:45, (Narita) 8:30-17:15, Research Site (Kanagawa) 9:00-17:45

  • Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, National Holidays, May Day, Year-End Holidays etc. (approx. 123 days in a year)
