Key Responsibilities
Observability Strategy & Tool Consolidation
Infrastructure Revamp Audit the existing monitoring setup (including PRTG, New Relic, and legacy tools) to analyze gaps, eliminate redundancies, and lead the consolidation of platforms into a unified observability strategy.
Standardization Champion and implement OpenTelemetry (OTel) instrumentation to standardize data collection across varying languages, platforms, and distributed systems.
rt Optimization
Noise Reduction & Severity Modeling Audit existing tools to define formal severity levels. Apply mastery in designing highly actionable alerts, setting anomaly-based thresholds, and configuring intelligent alert routing to significantly reduce alert fatigue and minimize false positives.
Documentation & Governance Document clear, robust Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for responding to different classes of system alerts.
ITSM Integration & Automation
Ticketing System Linkage Lead the integration of observability tools with ticketing systems (e.g., Zendesk, ServiceNow, Jira).
Workflow Automation Deploy and maintain webhook scripts to enable the automatic creation of Zendesk tickets directly from critical system alerts.
