About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Specialist to join the IT Operations team of a public sector organisation responsible for maintaining and evolving a large-scale enterprise IT infrastructure.

In this role, you will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, design, and implementation of critical network infrastructure supporting business-critical services. The position focuses heavily on Cisco ACI Datacenter, Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls, and enterprise networking technologies while contributing to ongoing infrastructure modernization, security improvements, and datacenter initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain enterprise network infrastructure and related systems.
• Configure, administer, and optimize Cisco ACI datacenter environments.
• Deploy, maintain, and secure Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls.
• Plan, implement, and monitor network changes and infrastructure upgrades.
• Support datacenter migration and infrastructure-modernization projects.
• Design and improve application-centric network security policies.
• Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex networking issues and manage vendor support cases.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure secure, stable, and high-performing network services.
• Participate in day-to-day operational support, monitoring, incident resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years' experience as a network specialist.
• At least 5 years' hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst (IOS) and Cisco Nexus (NX-OS) switches, including routing, switching, and network security.
• Minimum 3 years' experience with Cisco ACI Datacenter technologies, including configuration, maintenance, policy development, and firewall integration.
• Minimum 3 years' experience with Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls
• Experience managing support cases with hardware manufacturers and maintenance providers.
• Strong background in enterprise network infrastructure and system configuration.
• Native-level Dutch proficiency ( CEFR C2).

Preferred Experience

• LAN and WAN networking protocols.
• Routing and Switching.
• Enterprise Network Security.
• F5 BIG-IP Load Balancer / Application Delivery Controller.
• Linux system administration.
• Bash, Perl, or Python scripting.
• Server technologies including Apache, JBoss, WildFly, Oracle Database, and PostgreSQL.
• Storage technologies including NetApp FAS, HPE Alletra, HPE StoreOnce, and Fibre Channel SAN environments.
