Opening in February 2027, the new St. Paul’s Hospital is being built to transform how healthcare is delivered, supported by some of the most advanced digital infrastructure in the country. Elevare Health, powered by PHC Ventures, is now hiring a permanent, full-time Senior Network Operations Specialist as a key member of the Network Operations Center (NOC) team who will support the foundation of reliable, secure, and high-performing technology systems that clinicians, researchers, and patients will depend on every day. In this senior technical role, you'll lead complex incident investigations, improve monitoring and automation capabilities, mentor Network Operations Specialists, and help strengthen the reliability, performance, and resilience of the systems behind exceptional patient care to ensure they continue running when they matter most.

Please note this is a primarily on-site position, with a rotating day and evening shift (8AM-4PM and 2PM-10PM) from Monday to Friday. This posting is scheduled to close at 11:59PM on Friday, July 31st.

What you will be doing

  • Leading complex incident response: Diagnosing and resolving advanced infrastructure issues across enterprise network environments, leading root cause analysis, coordinating major incident response, and driving post-incident improvements.
  • Improving monitoring and automation: Designing and enhancing monitoring dashboards, alerts, integrations, and automation tools to improve system reliability, operational efficiency, and observability.
  • Supporting network reliability: Leading network upgrades, maintenance activities, disaster recovery planning, and operational improvements while ensuring systems remain secure, stable, and highly available.
  • Providing technical leadership: Acting as the primary technical escalation point for the Network Operations Centre, mentoring Network Operations Specialists, and collaborating with cross-functional teams on network initiatives and operational best practices.

What You Bring

Education, Training and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering or related field, plus five (5) to seven (7) years recent related experience in an networked systems environment including significant experience Linux system administration, Kubernetes operations and container orchestration or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Experience with programming in Python required.

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of network design and architecture.
  • Demonstrated experience with observability and monitoring platforms.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with Cloud Platforms (AWS or Azure).
  • Advanced troubleshooting and analytical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with automation and process improvement.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively cross-functional team members and external vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple incidents at once.
  • Demonstrated understanding of related privacy and security regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate technical information in simple terms.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.

  • Go or Rust programming experience.

Your day to day:

Reporting to the Manager, Network Operations Centre, the Senior Network Operations Specialist is responsible for advanced operational support, incident investigation, and ongoing development of monitoring and automation capabilities within the Network Operations Centre. This role combines operational response with deeper technical troubleshooting, computer engineering expertise and contributes to improving the reliability and observability of monitored systems. Provides support to the Network Operations Specialist(s) and acts as the primary technical escalation point during operational incidents. Coordinates incident responses during high-severity events. Implements integrations between monitoring systems and operational platforms. Develops improvements and automations. Leads and supports network related projects.

  • Diagnoses complex infrastructure and platform issues across LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless environments.
  • Performs root cause analysis for major incidents and leads technical troubleshooting during service disruptions. Assumes a lead role operational reviews and post-incident discussions.
  • Develops improvements to monitoring coverage, alerts, and dashboards by methods such as identifying gaps, adding monitoring capability, turning alerts, validating and testing and enhancing dashboards.
  • Develops automation scripts and operational tooling to reduce repetitive tasks, improve efficiency, reduce incident time, etc.
  • Implement integrations between monitoring systems and operational platforms.
  • Mentors Network Operations Specialists by providing technical guidance and support.
  • Participates in incident coordination during high-severity events. Contributes to post-incidents reviews and operational improvements
  • Monitors network performance and utilization and tunes network parameters and operating systems according to departmental policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Documents incidents, resolutions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in applicable systems.
  • Ensures documentation is maintained and upgraded including documentation of automated processes, tools, schedules and disaster recovery plans.
  • Develops and communicates plans and procedures for planned downtime and disaster recovery.
  • Leads and supports network-related projects such as network upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities to ensure maximum performance, security and stability of systems.
  • Ensures compliance with security policies and best practices
  • Develops user instruction materials and provides instruction as required.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.
