Job Description

Hermeus is a venture-backed defense aviation company reclaiming the lost art of rapid iterative prototyping to build the fastest aircraft in the world today. By prioritizing relentless hardware iteration, we deliver high-speed systems at the pace of the modern battlefield. We work with the Department of War to provide the high-speed capabilities our nation and its allies need to maintain a durable, asymmetric advantage.

We are seeking a Senior Network Operations - Deployment to own the deployment, performance, and scalability of network infrastructure across new sites and critical operations. This role is responsible for taking environments from initial assessment through full operational readiness, while building the systems, standards, and processes required to scale. The ideal candidate operates with a high degree of autonomy, makes sound technical decisions in dynamic environments, and drives outcomes end-to-end.

Responsibilities:

    Deployment Strategy & Site Ownership

    • Owning end-to-end network deployment for new and expanding locations, from initial site assessment through full operational readiness
    • Leading comprehensive site surveys, evaluating ISP capabilities, network architecture, physical security, and regulatory considerations
    • Defining deployment standards, playbooks, and best practices to ensure consistency and scalability across all locations
    • Serving as the primary technical authority for on-site infrastructure decisions and trade-offs
    • Cross-Functional Leadership & Requirements Definition

      • Partnering with engineering, operations, security, and business stakeholders to define and prioritize infrastructure requirements
      • Translating business needs into scalable, secure, and resilient network designs
      • Driving alignment across teams and ensuring deployments meet both technical and operational objectives
      • Event Infrastructure & Execution

        • Leading planning and execution of IT infrastructure for company events, ensuring seamless network connectivity and AV performance
        • Acting as the on-site escalation point for complex technical issues, rapidly diagnosing and resolving problems under pressure
        • Establishing repeatable processes for event readiness and support
        • Network Operations & Continuous Improvement

          • Driving improvements in network reliability, performance, and security across deployed environments
          • Establishing monitoring, documentation, and operational standards for deployed infrastructure
          • Identifying gaps and proactively implementing solutions to improve scalability and efficiency

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in network operations, infrastructure deployment, or related roles
  • Demonstrated experience owning and executing network deployments across multiple sites or environments
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (routing, switching, firewalls, ISP connectivity, VPNs, etc.)
  • Proven ability to operate independently, make technical decisions, and lead initiatives in the field

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

    • Ability to act as a technical leader and escalation point for complex issues
    • Strong problem-solving skills with a bias toward action and ownership
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
    • Experience working in high-growth, fast-paced environments where ambiguity is common
    • Proactive mindset with a focus on building scalable systems and processes, not just executing tasks
