SEACORP is seeking a well-qualified Senior Network Engineer – COMSEC / Secure Networks.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Job Description: SEACORP's Electronic Warfare Business Area is seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to support secure, mission-critical Department of Defense (DoD) network environments. The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience with routing and switching, IPsec VPN, DMVPN, network encryption, and COMSEC operations. This position will support the design, deployment, configuration, integration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of secure communications networks. The engineer will work closely with network, cybersecurity, systems engineering, and operations teams to maintain highly available and secure network infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer capable of troubleshooting complex problems across the network stack, from physical connectivity and routing through VPN tunnels, encryption devices, and COMSEC systems.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Design, configure, deploy, and maintain secure IP network infrastructure supporting DoD missions.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and security appliances.
  • Design, implement, and troubleshoot: IPsec VPN, DMVPN, Site-to-site VPN, GRE/GRE over IPsec and Secure WAN connectivity.
  • Configure and troubleshoot BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP routing environments.
  • Troubleshoot complex routing, switching, VPN, and encrypted communications issues.
  • Configure and maintain network encryption equipment and encrypted communication paths.
  • Support NSA-approved Type 1 encryption technologies and associated network architectures.
  • Support COMSEC operations, including key management, key loading, accounting, safeguarding, and handling procedures.
  • Serve as a technical resource for COMSEC-related network issues and secure communications.
  • Support COMSEC equipment installation, configuration, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain accurate network configurations, diagrams, inventories, and technical documentation.
  • Perform network testing and validation following system upgrades, configuration changes, and new deployments.
  • Analyze packet captures, routing tables, device logs, and monitoring data to isolate network problems.
  • Support cybersecurity and system accreditation activities, including implementation of applicable DISA STIGs.
  • Participate in network integration, testing, exercises, deployments, and operational events.
  • Coordinate with government customers, program management, cybersecurity personnel, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Provide technical support during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
  • Travel periodically to customer, deployment, training, and operational locations.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent relevant military, technical, or professional experience may be substituted for formal education where permitted by contract requirements.

Experience: 5+ years of professional network engineering experience; 7+ years preferred for senior-level candidates.

Strong hands-on experience with Cisco IOS/IOS-XE.

Required Technical Qualifications:

  • Advanced understanding of TCP/IP networking and routing.
  • Demonstrated experience with: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs and trunking, NAT/CGNAT, DHCP/DNS, IPv4/IPv6, QoS
  • Strong hands-on experience with IPsec VPN and DMVPN.
  • Experience troubleshooting GRE, GRE over IPsec, and encrypted tunnels.
  • Experience with network encryption devices, preferably KG-series or comparable NSA Type 1 encryption equipment.
  • Working knowledge of COMSEC policies, procedures, equipment, and key management.
  • Experience operating within a DoD or other U.S. Government environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex network problems independently.
  • Experience using tools such as Wireshark, packet capture, SNMP/network monitoring systems, and device logging.

The candidate should have practical experience working with COMSEC equipment and procedures, including:

  • COMSEC material control and accountability.
  • Key management and key distribution procedures.
  • Key loading and rekeying procedures.
  • Secure handling, storage, and destruction of COMSEC material.
  • COMSEC incident reporting and documentation.
  • Familiarity with NSA and DoD COMSEC policies and procedures.
  • Experience supporting Type 1 encrypted communications.
  • Experience with KG-series or similar network encryption equipment strongly preferred.
  • COMSEC Custodian experience is highly desirable.

DoD Cybersecurity Requirements:

  • The candidate must be able to meet applicable DoD 8140 personnel qualification requirements for the position.
  • Security+ CE or equivalent IAT certification is preferred/required based on the applicable contract position.

Additional certifications such as the following are highly desirable:

  • Cisco CCNP Enterprise
  • CCNP Security
  • Security+ CE
  • CISSP
  • CySA+
  • JNCIS/JNCIP or equivalent networking certification

Security Clearance:

  • Active Secret security clearance required, with higher clearance eligibility preferred.
  • Must be able to maintain the required security clearance for the duration of employment.
  • Must comply with all applicable DoD, customer, facility, COMSEC, and information-security requirements.
  • U.S. citizenship may be required based on contract and clearance requirements.

Travel:

  • Periodic travel is required.
  • Travel may include customer sites, military installations, remote deployment locations, training facilities, integration laboratories, and operational sites.
  • Travel requirements may vary based on program and mission requirements.

Preferred Experience

  • DoD network engineering experience.
  • Military tactical networking experience.
  • COMSEC Custodian experience.
  • Experience with KG-175, KG-250, KG-350, or comparable Type 1 encryption systems.
  • Experience supporting classified networks.
  • Experience with DISA STIGs and DoD cybersecurity requirements.
  • Experience with SIPRNet/NIPRNet environments.
  • Experience with Cisco ISR/ASR platforms.
  • Experience with network management and monitoring systems.
  • Experience supporting network deployments in austere or remote environments.
  • Experience performing network acceptance testing and system integration.
  • Ability to read and produce detailed network architecture and topology diagrams.

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • The ideal candidate will be a hands-on network engineer with strong Cisco networking skills and practical experience operating secure DoD communications networks.
  • Candidates should be comfortable troubleshooting a problem across multiple layers of the environment—for example:
  • Routing → DMVPN/IPsec → Encryption Device → COMSEC → Remote Network
  • The successful candidate will be able to work independently, communicate effectively with both technical and government personnel, and operate professionally in a security-conscious environment.

Work Environment & Physical Demands: Office & Computer Laboratories - Sitting, standing, extended periods of time using a mouse and keyboard and viewing computer screens. Infrequent lifting of <40lbs. Movement between points within the same office or between buildings. Work is performed in generally consistent environmental conditions with some seasonality for temperature differences and lighting.
