Program Summary

The SIGINT Solutions Division within the Cyber & Analytics Business Area supports multiple contracts delivering networking architectures and data center solutions across geographically dispersed environments. This role contributes to the design, implementation, and sustainment of network communication systems supporting a unique portfolio of programs nationwide.

The position is based in Columbia, MD and includes coordination with clients, data center site surveys, and technical planning for network deployments. You will have the ability to work remotely at least 1 day per week.

The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and sustainment of network architectures supporting multiple contracts and data center environments across the country. This role includes technical planning, cost analysis, hardware specification, testing, performance monitoring, and lifecycle upgrades.

The engineer conducts site surveys, prepares technical documentation and bills of materials, supports vendor circuit coordination, and ensures network hardware and routing/switching solutions are properly configured, monitored, and maintained in telecommunications and data center environments.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and develop network architectures, including detailed specifications, drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOM).

  • Conduct site surveys of data center locations and prepare technical write-ups for surveyed environments.

  • Perform cost/benefit analyses and provide detailed hardware specifications, data center selection input, and implementation approaches to meet current and future capacity needs.

  • Plan and execute network enhancements and upgrades; conduct burn-in testing and field deployment of rack-based solutions.

  • Test network designs and monitor hardware operations to ensure proper configuration and performance.

  • Implement and sustain router and switching solutions in data center and telecommunications environments.

  • Coordinate vendor circuit orders, service implementation changes, IP subnetting and allocation, and troubleshoot IP and telecom-related service interruptions.

  • Support SNMP-based monitoring and reporting platforms and ensure proper metrics tracking and bandwidth utilization trending for circuit scaling.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Information Systems (with emphasis in Internetworking), or related discipline with 12 years of experience; or Master’s degree with 10 years of experience.

  • 3+ years of experience with Cisco Integrated Service Routers (ISR), including static routing, policy-based routing, ACLs, IPSEC, Virtual Tunnel Interface (VTI), IP SLA, and route failure scenarios.

  • 5+ years of experience with Cisco Catalyst switches, including base IP routing, VLAN configuration, secure access protocols (SSH), and ACL implementation.

  • 3+ years of experience designing and implementing customer network solutions, including diagram drafting, rack elevation modeling, vendor quoting, cost analysis, equipment ordering, burn-in testing, and rack integration.

  • Experience implementing and sustaining SNMP monitoring platforms (e.g., ZENOSS), including SNMPv3 configuration, node management, metrics monitoring, reporting, and bandwidth utilization trending.

  • Experience supporting IP and telecom vendor circuit implementation from order through completion, including outage coordination and service restoration support; willingness to support call-in requirements and minimal CONUS travel.

  • Security Clearance Requirement - Active TS/SCI with Polygraph

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise with network devices including routers, switches (including Catalyst Edge Router platforms), and firewalls from vendors such as Cisco and Arista.

  • Experience with Cisco IOS XE software, including SD-WAN, security, and automation capabilities (e.g., Catalyst 8300 series).

  • Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, and VPNs.

  • WAN engineering experience including redundancy, scalability, security, and cost optimization design principles.

  • Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools such as SolarWinds, Intermapper, Splunk, or Prometheus.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $116,350.00 - $210,325.00
