We are seeking a skilled Mold Design Engineer to join our engineering team who will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing molds for manufacturing processes, ensuring high-quality production and cost efficiency. This role requires expertise in mold design, proficiency in CAD software, and a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, particularly injection molding.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop precision molds for injection molding, or other manufacturing processes using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product designers, manufacturing engineers, and quality assurance, to ensure mold designs meet product specifications and production requirements.
  • Perform mold flow analysis and simulations to optimize mold performance, reduce defects, and improve cycle times.
  • Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for mold fabrication.
  • Support the prototyping, testing, and validation of molds to ensure functionality and durability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mold-related issues during production, recommending design improvements as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control protocols.
  • Stay updated on advancements in mold design technology and manufacturing processes to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10 years of experience in mold design
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks)
  • Strong understanding of injection molding processes, materials, and mold manufacturing techniques.
  • Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and creating technical drawings.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with internal teams and external vendors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with 3D printing or additive manufacturing for prototyping.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Familiarity with CNC machining, EDM, or other mold fabrication processes.
