About the Role

As a Senior Modern Workplace Engineer at Digital61, you’ll take a strategic and hands-on role in designing, delivering, and continuously improving secure Microsoft 365 and endpoint environments.

This is more than a technical role, you’ll help shift service delivery from reactive support to proactive, outcomes-driven assurance. You’ll work across Cyber, Compliance, Cloud, and Service Management teams to uplift customer environments, strengthen security posture, and drive measurable improvements in performance, compliance, and operational efficiency.

You’ll also play a key role in advancing automation and AI-enabled service delivery, ensuring solutions are scalable, governed, and aligned to real business outcomes.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Providing senior technical leadership across Microsoft 365, endpoint management, identity, and security platforms
  • Designing and delivering secure, compliant, and scalable Modern Workplace solutions
  • Owning and optimising platforms including Intune, Entra ID, Microsoft Defender, and Autopilot
  • Implementing strong identity and access management controls (MFA, Conditional Access, identity governance)
  • Acting as the escalation point for complex technical issues, driving root-cause analysis and long-term remediation
  • Driving proactive maintenance, optimisation, and continuous improvement across customer environments
  • Establishing and maintaining technical standards, baselines, and best practices
  • Leading the adoption of automation (PowerShell, Microsoft Graph) to improve efficiency and consistency
  • Supporting AI-enabled and automated service delivery initiatives
  • Collaborating with Cyber and Compliance teams to embed frameworks such as Essential Eight, ISO 27001, and ASD ISM
  • Supporting audit readiness, compliance reporting, and security posture assessments
  • Producing customer-facing insights, recommendations, and roadmap guidance
  • Mentoring engineers and contributing to a high-performance, continuous improvement culture

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong experience across Microsoft 365, endpoint management, identity, and security technologies
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and automation
  • The ability to translate technical capability into meaningful business outcomes
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify risks, trends, and optimisation opportunities
  • High attention to detail, particularly across security and compliance
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of customer outcomes
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear, actionable insights to stakeholders
  • A collaborative approach, working effectively across technical and business teams
  • A commitment to mentoring others and lifting team capability

Qualifications & Experience

  • Microsoft certifications such as MS-102, MD-102, SC-300, SC-200, AZ-500 (or equivalent)
  • ITIL or equivalent service management certification
  • Cybersecurity or endpoint management certifications aligned to Microsoft or industry frameworks
  • Proven experience designing and delivering secure Modern Workplace environments in complex customer settings
  • Experience working within security and compliance frameworks (e.g. Essential Eight, ISO 27001, ISM)
