As a senior member within our mobile applications development team, you will lead efforts including backlog management, enhancements, incident resolution, new projects, and various strategic initiatives within Flynn’s Custom Applications team.

Our Tech Stack

Our modern mobile apps are natively built for Android (Kotlin/Java), and iOS (Swift) connecting to .NET APIs on Amazon AWS. We use SQL Server and MongoDB as our primary databases. We use ASP.NET and JavaScript (Angular, jQuery, KendoUI) for our web apps and Xamarin (C#) for our legacy apps. We use CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps as well as monitoring solutions such as New Relic, Raygun, and Luciq.

AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot allow us to accelerate our development pipeline and improve the developer experience. By continuously evaluating emerging AI technologies, we identify tools that provide transformational value for our business partners and development teams.

Responsibilities:

• Working on mobile app development projects that drive revenue, cost savings, and business team performance
• Build and maintain cutting-edge mobile applications to interact with our APIs, primarily focused on iOS development while supporting Android feature parity
• Identify and utilize AI powered tools and practices that enhance the team to deliver short- and long-term value
• Everyone is responsible for quality, security, and building testable software
• Embrace a feedback cycle with direct communication with users and stakeholders to support and enhance our suite of custom mobile applications
• Engage in regular collaboration with members from different teams to enhance teamwork and ensure the success of our projects
• Develop and validate code that meets and exceeds acceptance criteria, providing high standards of quality and performance
• Build out automated tests and build pipelines to support continuous integration and continuous delivery
• Commitment to continuous self-improvement through learning of cutting-edge tech and tools to keep our tech stack ahead of the curve
• Participate in a rotating weekly on-call schedule
• Off-hours support as required

Learning new techniques and reinforcing them with solid experience is critical. Being able to write clear, maintainable, and testable code, that is easily understood by the team is a key factor in your success as a candidate.

What we are Seeking:

• Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
• 8+ years of professional software development experience, demonstrating a track record of excellence in production software development
• 5+ years of mobile development experience in iOS
• 5+ years of experience with mobile app deployment and distribution processes
• 2+ years of mobile development experience in Android
• Familiarity with AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar - we embrace AI-assisted development as part of our engineering culture
• Solid understanding of IT Standards, UX Design, mobile UI/UX best practices, Agile Methodologies, TDD (Test-Driven Development)
• Ability to work both as part of a team & independently
• Proficiency consuming and designing RESTful APIs and working with JSON
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns including MVVM, MVC, and MVP
• Demonstrable technical abilities with:
• SwiftUI and UIKit
• Java and Kotlin
• AI development tools
• iOS CoreData, Android Room, and MongoDB Realm
• Firebase development platform
• SQL Server and MongoDB Atlas as data sources
• Microsoft Azure CI/CD pipelines and App Service
• Driven by user satisfaction:
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks based upon direction given to the team
• Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities to investigate and resolve issues reported by our users
• Experience with the following tools and technology is an asset:
• Atlassian Jira, GitHub, Azure DevOps, Aha!, New Relic, Luciq, XCTest, Xcode Instruments
• Experience with Xamarin Framework (C#)
• JavaScript front end frameworks (Angular, React, Vue, etc.)
• Amazon AWS (Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway)
• Enhancing user value by successfully integrating AI functionality into production mobile apps
