EDUCATION
• Degree or equivalent work experience equally preferable
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely-related discipline
CERTIFICATIONS

WORK EXPERIENCE
• Related experience
• Financial Services preferred but not required
• Cloud experience, preferably in Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box)
• Experience with monitoring systems
• Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, Python, or C# including object-oriented design
FUNCTIONAL SKILLS
• Experience with the administration and performance tuning of application stacks (e.g., Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, Ruby, NGINX)
• Solid scripting skills in one of the following: Java, Python, C# (.NET)
• Strong experience with server side programming, language agnostic
• Solid networking knowledge (Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) network layers, Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP))
• Experience with the administration and performance tuning of application stacks (e.g., Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, NGINX)
• Full life-cycle development in a commercial environment
• Integration of Machine Learning (ML) Libraries and frameworks to apply in Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks and ability perform statistical analysis and refine data models will be a plus
• Exposure the Relational Database Management System (RDBMS )based databases such as Oracle and SQL Server / NoSQL DBs such as DynamoDB will be preferable
• Experience with Amazon Web Service (AWS), Azure, or any cloud provider
• Experience with distributed, multi-tiered systems, algorithms, and databases
• Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical groups on a regular basis to maintain transparency on work efforts and to ensure design and implementation is understood by all team participants
• Must possess organizational, problem-solving skills and time management skills and be able to meet deadlines

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitor installed systems and infrastructure and test for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
• Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools
• Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
• Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
• Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
