About the role

Are you a highly organised administrator with strong events and communications experience? Are you looking for a role in a small, supportive and values driven team?

We are looking for an exceptional, experienced administrator to work in delivering representative services to lawyers across the Canterbury-Westland Branch Area, Including Christchurch, Greymouth, Timaru and Ashburton. This is a dynamic role combining event management, marketing, communications, and administration.

This is a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) role based in Christchurch.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Liaising with branch councils and stakeholders to plan and promote events
  • Managing communications including newsletters, invitations, and calendars
  • Providing secretariat support and assisting with budgeting and reporting
  • Supporting the smooth running of branch operations and council meetings
  • Some travel and after-hours event attendance will be required.

Our ideal applicant will have:

  • Proven experience in event coordination and communications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • A collaborative, client-focused approach with great interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of the legal profession is a plus
  • Full, unrestricted driver’s licence

The New Zealand Law Society Te Kāhui Ture o Aotearoa is the professional body for barristers and solicitors in New Zealand. The Law Society regulates all lawyers practising in New Zealand and is the membership organisation for practising lawyers. With 13 branches throughout the country, the Law Society is the Kaitiaki (guardian) of the practice of law in Aotearoa New Zealand and the consumers of legal services.

The New Zealand Law Society Te Kāhui Ture o Aotearoa is the regulatory and representative body of the legal profession of Aotearoa New Zealand.

As regulator of the legal profession, the Law Society’s powers are set out in the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006, and associated regulations.

We regulate the practice of law in Aotearoa New Zealand to ensure the protection of those who access legal services and maintain public confidence in the provision of legal services.

Our functions include regulating the practice of law in Aotearoa New Zealand as well as assisting and promoting the reform of the law for the purpose of upholding the rule of law and the administration of justice.

The Law Society also represents and provides services to those lawyers who choose to be members.
