Job Description

Oversees the accurate and precise performance of all laboratory protocols in the assigned Laboratory Section for all shifts.

• Ensures proper operation of analyzers and other laboratory equipment by:
  • Calibrating equipment
  • Completing preventive maintenance requirements
  • Following the manufacturer's instructions
  • Troubleshooting malfunctions
  • Calling for repairs when necessary
  • Maintaining equipment inventories
  • Evaluating new equipment and techniques
• Conducts daily quality control checks and performs College of American Pathologists (CAP) Proficiency testing as required.
• Manages laboratory supplies inventory by:
  • Checking stock levels
  • Anticipating needed supplies
  • Placing and expediting orders for supplies
  • Verifying receipt of supplies
• Maintains a clean and safe working environment in the laboratory by practising preventive measures and ensuring cleanliness.
• Performs routine laboratory testing according to departmental policies and procedures.
• Communicates critical, urgent, and abnormal results to ordering physicians.
• Coordinates with nursing and physicians regarding patient preparation, sample collection, and sample integrity.
• Prioritizes workload efficiently and productively.
• Assists in maintaining College of American Pathologists (CAP) standards and complying with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) regulations.
• Promotes ethical practices and maintains patient confidentiality.
• Participates in the lab's monthly focus group discussions.
• Undertakes any other duties as assigned.
• Acts as the quality link for assigned section(s).

Quality Link Duties and Responsibilities:

• Meets with the Laboratory’s Quality team to address quality-related matters and discuss any concerns.
• Conducts daily reviews of quality control (QC) processes and conducts investigations into any identified violations or biases, as necessary.
• Reviews Proficiency Testing evaluations and conducts investigations when necessary to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Investigates incidents and addresses complaints related to the assigned section(s) of the laboratory.
• Assists in compiling monthly statistics, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and workload data.
• Supports section supervisors by assisting in Method Evaluation, Validation, and Set-up processes.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field
• Current/Valid Dubai Health Authority (DHA) License

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist.
• Knowledge of laboratory and general computer applications preferred.
• Ability to speak and write English fluently.
