Join Ohio State University Physicians as a Senior Medical Assistant (Revenue Cycle Administration Champion). A role that combines direct patient care with meaningful involvement in patient access and revenue cycle operations. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Medical Assistant who enjoys supporting efficient clinic workflows, enhancing the patient experience, and serving as a resource for revenue cycle best practices. In this fast-paced outpatient setting, you will work closely with providers, staff, and patients to deliver high-quality care while supporting accurate registration, scheduling, and documentation processes. As the clinic's Revenue Cycle Champion, approximately 25% of the role will focus on Revenue Cycle Administration, including registration, scheduling, and pre-certification activities, helping to ensure a seamless experience for patients and the care team

Responsibilities

Purpose: Assist with direct patient care and perform specialized medical procedures of a routine nature following established clinical protocols. Support providers and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients while helping ensure efficient clinic operations.

• Provide direct patient care and clinical support, including rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, documenting medical histories, and assisting with treatments and procedures.
• Perform approved clinical duties such as medication administration, point-of-care testing, injections, phlebotomy, EKGs, and other tasks within scope of practice.
• Assist providers during examinations, treatments, special tests, and procedures while maintaining accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Support clinic operations by preparing exam rooms, maintaining equipment and supplies, and ensuring a safe, organized patient care environment.
• Serve as the Revenue Cycle Champion, dedicating approximately 25% of the role to registration, scheduling, pre-certification, insurance verification, and related patient access activities.
• Promote accurate documentation, demographic collection, and workflow practices that support revenue cycle performance and a positive patient experience.
• Maintain compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements while participating in training, quality improvement initiatives, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant certification with at least one year of Medical Assistant experience, or two years of Medical Assistant experience if uncertified.
• Demonstrated success in a designated champion role and ability to serve as a clinic resource.
• Strong customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Experience using electronic medical records and standard computer applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Medical Assistant Certification.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• Experience with outpatient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, prior authorizations, referrals, or other revenue cycle-related functions.
• Experience supporting both clinical and front-desk operations.
• Knowledge of EMR systems, HIPAA, OSHA, and healthcare compliance requirements.

Pay Range

USD $18.20 - USD $29.33 /Hr.
