The Business

Oxford Flow was founded in 2015 as a spin-out from The University of Oxford and produces some of the most precise and accurate flow control valves in the world. We are an engineering led technology company which has revolutionized valve design with our range of Zero emissions control valves and regulators; these products will transform global fugitive emissions in industries such as oil & gas, gas transmission & distribution, and other process industries. The company has recently secured £20m investment from two major strategic organisations to accelerate its growth plans and we are seeking talented individuals to be part of the exciting journey to follow.

The Role

Join a pioneering engineering team where innovation meets real-world impact. We’re seeking a proactive, technically strong Senior Mechanical/Product Engineer with industrial product development experience to help drive the evolution of our cutting-edge axial flow valve product range.

This is an opportunity to be part of a collaborative and agile team creating real products for the energy, water, and industrial sectors. You’ll report to a Principal Engineer or Engineering Manager or similar and be responsible for leading development projects, mentoring junior team members, and maintaining the highest standards of engineering excellence—all while staying true to our values of Reliability, Excellence, Accountability, Collaboration, and Health (Safety First).

· Lead and support the design, development, and refinement of mechanical products, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and efficiency.

· Mentor and guide Graduate Engineers and Mechanical Design Engineers, fostering a learning culture and technical excellence.

· Create high quality CAD models or parts and assemblies.

· Create drawings, BOMs and procedures in line with internal and regulatory standards.

· Review and approve engineering drawings, ensuring alignment with internal and industry standards. (BS8888).

· Conduct engineering change notices (ECN) to update and improve released components and assemblies.

· Produce high-quality operation and maintenance manuals, technical procedures, and material specification documents.

· Engage in hands-on prototype builds and product testing, when needed, to support validation and transfer to production.

· Contribute to the development of robust manufacturing and assembly processes for both new and existing products.

· Apply both finite element analysis and traditional hand calculations for stress analysis and mechanical integrity checks.

· Where required Use simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, FEA software) to solve complex engineering challenges and present findings with clarity and rigour.

· Present work in technical reviews and contribute actively to our culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

· Lead cross-functional training sessions, ensuring that engineering efforts are aligned with wider company project goals and timelines.

Required Skills and Experience

· Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering; postgraduate qualifications are welcome but not essential, or proven industry experience.

· Proven track record in industrial product development, ideally in the valve industry or a similar precision-engineering domain.

· Deep understanding of metal manufacturing processes, including casting and forging.

· Expertise in:
- Mechanical component and/or pressure vessel design
- Safety-critical stress analysis
