We are expanding our CAE team in our Transportation and Industrial Solutions Division. We are looking for a talented individual to join our team. In this role, the Senior Mechanical Engineer: Structural will drive and validate design features related to structural performance on automotive connector applications, using CAE methods and tools.

Our Team

The TSBU Predictive Engineering Team enables/delivers robust product design and virtual validation by developing and applying Product Digital Twin capabilities across core engineering functions. In this role, the engineer will support mechanical virtual validation using advanced FEA tools, working closely with product development teams to predict performance, identify risks early, and improve simulation-to-test correlation.

What You Will Do

  • Coordinate and provide engineering analysis support, predominately with FEA, on short fiber reinforced plastic & copper alloy-based component systems through Hyperworks and Abaqus tools.
  • Work on nonlinear Durability & Linear vibration simulations.
  • Participate in correlation of CAE simulations to real world performance and make recommendations to improve simulation accuracy as needed.
  • Develop scripts to automate CAE processes to improve efficiency.
  • Work on process automation tools (ISIGHT, Hyper study, Mode Frontier etc.) to automate CAE workflow & building regression models on nonlinear engineering applications to provide design solutions (Innovative/cost effective).
  • Communicate technical knowledge and experimental findings in both written and verbal formats to peers, management, and customers.
  • Attend training and conferences to stay current with latest developments.
  • Some travel, as necessary; may be required.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Masters / Bachelor's degree in engineering, Chemistry, Physics or Material Science
  • At least 5 years of experience with FEA applications
  • Experience with scripting, process automation tools (ISIGHT, Hyper study, Mode Frontier etc.) to automate CAE workflow & building regression models on nonlinear engineering applications
  • Experience with parametric CAD systems (UG NX, CATIA or SolidWorks, etc.)
  • Root cause and failure analysis aptitude

What Will Put You Ahead

  • PhD in Engineering, Physics, Material Science
  • 5+ years' experience with SIMULIA (ABAQUS, Isight) products
  • 5+ years' experience with Altair (Hyperworks, Simlab) family products
  • 3+ years' experience with CAE engineering user support & training
  • 3+ years' experience with CAE modeling applications in predicting nonlinear structural behavior on short fiber reinforced plastics & metals
  • 3+ years' experience with scripting & CAE process automation tools (ISIGHT, Hyper study, Mode Frontier etc.)
  • 2+ years' experience on using Machine learning/AI for building regression models on nonlinear engineering applications.
  • Experience in leading and mentoring a team.
  • Experience with analytical analysis packages (MATLAB, MATHEMATICA, etc.)
