Working on a 28/28 rotation, the Senior Mechanical Rotating/Static Technician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, overhaul, installation, and commissioning of rotating and static mechanical equipment. The role ensures equipment reliability, safety, and compliance with company standards, OEM requirements, and industry best practices. The technician also provides technical guidance to junior staff and supports continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pumps (centrifugal, reciprocating)
  • Compressors (centrifugal, reciprocating, screw)
  • Turbines
  • Gearboxes
  • Fans and blowers
  • Perform alignment (laser/dial), balancing, and vibration-related corrective actions.
  • Diagnose bearing, seal, lubrication, and shaft-related issues.
  • Support condition monitoring activities and reliability improvement programs.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair static equipment including:
  • Heat exchangers
  • Pressure vessels
  • Piping systems
  • Valves (control, isolation, safety)
  • Tanks and columns
  • Assist with shutdowns, turnarounds, and major maintenance activities.
  • Ensure proper torquing, gasket selection, and flange management.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior technicians.
  • Coordinate with engineers, planners, and operations teams.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and technical reviews.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma or Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 8–12+ years of hands-on experience with rotating and static equipment (oil & gas, power, petrochemical, or heavy industry preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance practices and fault diagnosis.
  • Experience with shutdowns/turnarounds is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documents.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
