PACCAR India is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer - Dimensional Management to drive product development through the effective application of GD&T, 1D/3D tolerance analysis, and variation control methodologies.

Dimensional Management focuses on delivering high-quality products by understanding, analyzing, and controlling dimensional variation across components and manufacturing processes. In this role, the Dimensional Engineer partners with cross-functional project teams, provides guidance on dimensional management practices, and utilizes advanced engineering tools to evaluate designs, perform tolerance analyses, and recommend solutions that enhance product quality, manufacturability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform dimensional analysis on assemblies using statistical tolerance stacks and 3-D tolerance analysis software(3DCS).
    • Participate and take initiative in the development of dimensional Design Objectives with styling, design, and manufacturing.
    • Develop Datum scheme and assembly strategies for parts and assemblies that consider input from the design, manufacturing, supplier, and inspection.
    • Apply GD&T per ASME standards to ensure functional and manufacturable designs.
    • Develop and coordinate capability studies and measurement systems; interpret data and provide recommendations.
    • Present analysis results to engineering and management stakeholders.
    • Resolve complex issues using Dimensional Management tools to improve product quality.
    • Promote/teach Dimensional Management tools and processes to multiple project teams.

Education Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical or Production Engineering

Knowledge & Skills REQUIRED:

    • 3+ years of engineering experience with a thorough understanding of Dimensional Management, preferably in the automotive and/or trucking industry, Heavy Industries.
    • In-depth understanding and practical application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles.
    • Proficient in 3D tolerance analysis using 3DCS, with experience in evaluating and optimizing assembly variation.
    • Experience in Excel-based 1D tolerance stack-up analysis for design validation and problem-solving.
    • Good understanding of automotive components, assemblies, and dimensional requirements across vehicle systems.
    • Strong grasp of statistical methods for analyzing, predicting, and controlling dimensional variation in engineering designs.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks, takes initiative, and work collaboratively as a team player and problem solver.
    • Effective communication and coordination skills with cross-functional teams.

Knowledge & Skills DESIRED:

    • Creo skills – an added advantage.
    • GD&T certifications
    • Desired certification in DFSS and/or Six Sigma Belt programs
    • Experience with CMM and portable inspection devices and reports -desired
    • Experience desired in measurement systems analysis, Statistical Process Control, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) desired.
    • Detailed understanding of manufacturing processes, production assembly fixtures, and inspection equipment desired.
    • Teaching/coaching experience with a technical topic desired.
