Job Description

PACCAR India is looking for a skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Pune, specializing in the design and development of racks and material-handling equipment such as shipping racks, storage racks, dollies, fixtures, and tools.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will leverage your expertise in sheet-metal design, CAD modeling, and manufacturing processes to create robust, ergonomic, and manufacturable solutions. Job Function / Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize design racks and material handling equipment (shipping racks, storage racks, dollies, shipping containerization, fixtures, tools, gauges etc.).
  • Develop robust sheet metal designs with good understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
  • Create detailed engineering drawings, including GD&T, BOM creation, and adherence to engineering standards.
  • Perform tool clearance studies and apply ergonomics principles in design.
  • Work on large assemblies, including effective use of simplified representations.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams locally and globally to ensure design alignment and manufacturability.
  • The primary function for this position includes:
    • Execution on CAD – Sheetmetal, advance modeling and assembly, drawing, surfacing knowledge will be an added advantage.
    • Understand design requirements, clearance check, drawing standards, GD&T, and Bill of Material (BOM).
    • Familiar with material handling equipment such as shipping rack, fixture, tool or gauge design.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Production Engineering

Required Skills:

  • 4–8 years of hands on experience in Mechanical engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in Creo Parametric and Windchill.
  • Solid understanding of sheet metal design and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong knowledge of welded structures, welding symbols, and fabrication standards.
  • Familiar with truck systems and components.
  • Ability to manage and design large assemblies efficiently.
  • Excellent understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack up, and engineering drawing practices. Experience in tool clearance, reliability, and ergonomic assessments.
  • Ability to collaborate with both local and global engineering teams.
  • Technical / Professional Experience (Desired):Creo Surfacing skills – an added advantage.
