Requisition Summary:

PACCAR India is looking for a skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Pune, specializing in the vehicle layout and packaging of the chassis components and vehicle sub systems.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at PACCAR, your expertise will be leveraged in Layout development, component packaging, installation drawing, and coordination with cross functional team to ensure vehicle customization and compliant with technical requirements.

Job Function / Responsibilities:

  • Understand customer requirements, conduct feasibility studies, prepare proposals, and execute projects effectively.
  • Perform layout planning, generate concepts, and evaluate design alternatives.
  • Conduct detailed studies, investigations, and develop innovative concepts.
  • Create layouts for multiple variants to address and resolve assembly challenges.
  • Enter data into the mainframe system and manage releases for production.
  • Drive continuous design improvements to reduce costs and enhance component competitiveness.
  • Implement engineering change requests to optimize existing designs.
  • Perform tolerance stack-up analysis at both part and assembly levels.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional design teams to ensure alignment with final design objectives.
  • Track project progress and prepare reports using Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel for senior management presentations.
  • Primary responsibilities for this role include:
    • Experience in vehicle packaging studies and sheet metal concept development for DAF trucks.
    • Ability to prepare layouts for multiple design variants.
    • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical routing, as well as interpretation of overview drawings.
    • Knowledge of EU and North American regulatory requirements.
    • Capability to work independently while coordinating effectively with teams and key stakeholders

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Production Engineering

Required Skills:

  • 4-8 years of related experience in Vehicle/Layout packaging.
  • High proficiency in NX and Teamcenter tools.
  • Solid understanding of vehicle subsystems and their integration.
  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal design principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Proven ability to design and manage large assemblies effectively.
  • In-depth understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and engineering drawing standards.
  • Experience in evaluating tool clearances, reliability, and ergonomics.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with both local and global engineering teams

Desired Experience:

  • Familiar with truck systems and components
  • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes and assembly techniques.
  • Familiar with validation, test procedures and issue resolution.
  • Piping, harness and cable routing
