The Allegro team is united by a clear purpose—advancing technologies that make the world safer, more efficient, and more sustainable. With over 30 years of experience in semiconductor innovation, we bring that purpose to life across every part of the business—from breakthrough product development and customer success to how we show up for each other and the communities we serve.
The Opportunity
Allegro MicroSystems seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Test Equipment Development team. The senior engineer designs, develops and implements cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting fixtures, systems, and equipment. Also, provides the deliverables at all phases of project development, including generation of specifications, design and documentation, prototype builds, and preparation of test and validation processes.
What You Will Do
System Design & Analysis: Lead the mechanical design, analysis, and continuous improvement of test interface mechanics for Allegro’s probe and final test equipment. Apply engineering principles to enhance the precision, reliability, and thermal performance of our automated systems.
Full-Cycle Development: Drive projects through all phases of development, from generating detailed specifications and creating 3D parametric models to overseeing prototype builds and executing comprehensive validation plans.
New Technology Integration: Serve as a technical stakeholder in the evaluation and selection of new OEM test equipment. Perform detailed engineering analysis and design reviews on new proposals and concepts to ensure they meet Allegro’s performance and reliability standards.
Electromagnetic Sub-Module Design: Assist in the design, development, and validation of new configurations for electromagnetics, enabling test capabilities for next-generation products.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with electrical, systems, and manufacturing engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs into the overall test solution.
What You Will Need
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline.
5 to10 years of related experience in the design and development of electro-mechanical systems.
Expert-level skill in 3D parametric design and solid modeling using software such as Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or Creo.
Experience with the design, operation, and troubleshooting of high-volume automated equipment, including a strong knowledge of precision alignment mechanisms.
Experience in the thermal analysis and management of complex electro-mechanical systems.
A clear understanding of the main phases of project development with a proven track record of meeting deliverables and driving projects to successful completion.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience within the semiconductor industry, specifically with test handlers, probers, or similar automated equipment.
Background in designing for high-volume manufacturing environments.
Familiarity with high/low voltage applications and the integration of contactors, relays, or circuit breakers into mechanical designs.
Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
Prior experience mentoring junior team members.
